Know where your closest natural water source is located. For example, I live six miles from a natural water source (a clear mountain stream) that has two paved roads leading from my town to it. Snow melt feeds the stream, and it runs year round. The area around the stream is sparsely populated. It is a good water source for those in my area but it would have to be filtered or boiled to make it safe to drink.
