Did you know? The Kinks, formed by brothers Ray and Dave Davies who often didn't get along, were originally known as The Ravens and The Bo Weevils. The name "The Kinks" was inspired by the word "Kinky" from the TV show The Avengers. During their 1965 US tour, their Springfield show was promoted by John Wayne Gacy, later a notorious serial killer, and in 2004, Ray Davies was severely injured after being shot while chasing a mugger in New Orleans.

I remember when RayRay got shot. They were heading out from the Troubador Lounge in the back of the French Quarter when he tried to chase down his wife's purse snatcher. Bad move. Those punk thugs will shoot you for lesser reasons than no good ones. Eric Burdon and Ray both lived in New Orleans back in the 1990's. It was home to them, even if for only half a decade or so. New Orleans has the perfect vibe for artists and musicians and Hollywood actors. They all seem to live here at one time or another. Some settle down here permanently like Harry Shearer, John Goodman and Linda Thompson. 😎👌🏻

I've heard their last name was actually pronounced 'Davis'. But during a very early TV or radio interview, the interviewer pronounced it Davies, and rather than correct him, they just went with it.
