The boom and bust cycles have been just brutal. I think the biggest problem is the fact that the gpu pow chains have not done enough to fend off the asic miners. Who needs to invest in risky expensive asics and lose your butt in the process. The asic manufacturers have totally pissed on the asic resistant mining algos. thats whats happening to the entire crypto ecosystem.

Carter, Robinhood which is another on boarding that will compete with coinbase is adding Litecoin; they are charging no trading fee's.

First time I seen someone mention Akroma, another one I think is a good one to mine now is Loki which has two devs from Monero, I do not see too many discussing that one either. They fixed a few issues with Monero, mixins and rings namely.

People still mine because we bought the hype and are stuck with our rigs that now barely produce more than cost of power. They are still "profitable"... No one's expanding right now. That's for Damn sure.

fancy set up you got there. i've not been into mining mainly because of hardware requirements but i've been into a bit of staking with deeponion. though rewards are halved now because it just entered its second year. its all good though, the lesser the supply, the higher the value of the coins. win win situation for me.
