For the James Webb Space Telescope, getting into space is
just step one. The telescope must complete a complicated
series of unfolding steps before it can observe the cosmos.
The entire sequence, including getting the science instruments
ready, will take about six months.

“A lot has to go right, that’s for sure,” says astronomer
Scott Friedman of the Space Telescope Science Institute in
Baltimore, who is in charge of this timeline. Webb will be
heading to a point in space called L2, which is too far from
Earth for astronauts to visit and make repairs. “There’s every
reason to believe things will go very well,” Friedman says.
“But we won’t know until we get there.”

This video depicts a timeline of what has to go right (all times are
approximate). Read more:

This rendering is absolutely amazing. Even though we have waited over 20 years for the launch, but the next two months is really getting me impatient.

I’m going to ignore these updates until they actually launch the damn thing and it works.

I’m so excited and nervous and anxiety ridden about this. Been following this project for years.

I can’t help but worry because many things have to go exactly right and no matter how good the engineers or plan is, there are always things that crop up.

Being so far away means it’s not serviceable.. fingers crossed JWST, we’re counting on you to reveal the secrets of the universe to us!

I really cannot wait to see what this piece of absolute genius technology will beam back to us. It's things like this that really makes us what we are.

In the 14+ billion years of earthly existence, human beings have occupied but a minute fraction of it; science as we know it, a yet smaller fraction of this. What science— and humans— have accomplished in this fraction of time is is awe-inspiring and humbling. Amidst the chaos that we seem prone to create, this is a circumstance in which we can take pride in being human beings.

This is so much more satisfying having my tax dollars going toward rather than things like oil company subsidies or the MIC bottomless pit. NASA does the incredible again.

Can’t wait for the launch.. The most critical part is the launch itself, hope all goes well.. can’t wait to see JWT sending its first capture.

Undoubtedly one of the most significant events of our time. The Web Ellis telescope will send back images of constellations and nebula with unparalleled clarity surpassing that of it's predecessor the Hubble telescope. The pillars of creation nebula are of particular interest to me and I'm waiting with bated breath as to what they reveal.

I remember in 95 when we 'finally' could see the images from Hubble. WOW could not describe what I was seeing. Now it's time for some more WOW stuff. I'm not going to be around for the 3rd one. This is going to be

Forward’s vol is mixed so high it distorts and is not pleasant to listen too.☹️

Hooray for this great American achievement. This is still a great country, actually the greatest, if we all here in America pull together.

That is an incredibly pain staking process of getting the telescope up and running. The simulation show HALF A YEAR to get this done. Now that is patients. Can’t wait to see what it is able to capture.

E pensar que ainda temos seis meses mais após o lançamento para vê-lo apto a funcionar.
Um verdadeiro parto para a humanidade. Mas um filho exemplar.

i cant understund the L2 orbit. For me is like is working because NASA invest money there but i cant see how is that posible.
Any detail, video or data in Orbit domain to get more info about orbit planets and stars?
