Microsoft has now officially announced it has acquired Activision Blizzard in a deal said to be valued at nearly $70 billion. The companies have agreed that Bobby will depart once the deal closes.

In this video, DeVante talks about Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard for $95 per share; a total payout of $68.7 billion. In buying Activision Blizzard, Microsoft will also take ownership of massive franchises like Call of Duty, Warcraft, Diablo, and Overwatch, as well as Activision Blizzard's eSports endeavors. If the deal goes through, Microsoft will have a total of 30 internal game development studios following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

This is the best thing that could have happen to Activision blizzard. Morale probably went through the roof today. I’ve been hoping Microsoft would do something along these lines. If they bake world of Warcrafts subscription into gamepass it’ll be a huge shot in the arm for wow.

I hope this means cod can be on steam again, and 4+ years-old cod games no longer being fully-priced

I hope Microsoft really reins them in and makes the entire Blizzard/Activision a better place for everyone. I'm tired of hearing how they mistreat their employees. Once that happens, maybe I'll go back to playing Overwatch and things. It'd be nice to play a game I like that no longer supports unfair and inhuman work environments, to say the least.

I think the biggest take for me is Righting of the ship. I have a feeling MS is going make everyone's working environment a good place again.... It's a great deal because there is a ton of talent there with a LONG list of historic games and franchises. Everything will still be coming to PC so there is only really 1 platform that will be left out but it's not like there aren't options on the table if you wanna play the newer games.... For basically free if you use MS reward point to pay for your GP

Aside from FINALLY firing Bobby, I hope Microsoft *reinstates/separates the "Vicarious Visions" studio name again* because that studio deserved way more than being "merged" into Blizzard.

They really walked up to Activision door and said “here $70, 000, 000, 000 in cash now go”

I think Microsoft is gonna take over entirety of the games just for people to enjoy cloud gaming, cuz they know its gonna be massive in few years, it was definitely a smart move

Seems like Microsoft decided the way to beat Sony/Playstation is by owning literally every game studio not directly working for them.

It's good news for xbox fans, but I'm kinda worried that xbox is going to start to build a monopoly on the console gaming market. One of the things that I liked best about it was that you had a variety of choices, and each one had its own pros and cons, but with each big purchase like this, it's becoming harder and harder to choose something other than xbox.
