Too busy worrying about masks to address the real issues. Idiocy abounds in DC.

U.S has had their own opium business forever, what do you think Afghanistan war was about?

My husband is active duty, and when they train for chemical or bio weapons, he and his team are more afraid of fentanyl than anthrax

People forget, the Portuguese and British used to buy Opium in India and trade it in China in the Hong Kong region for oriental luxury goods in demand back home in Europe. The Opium trade was very lucrative. When China tried to suppress the trade, the Opium Wars broke out, which the Europeans won.

Everyone talks about the fentanyl crisis, but no one talks about the other side. Doctors are limited on the amount of opioids patients can take. What does this mean? I have been disabled for 31 years with severe pain. Two and a half years ago I had my first of 2 myocardial infarctions. I am told by the doctors my pain is causing my hypertension and my hypertension is causing my heart attacks which are called a type 2 myocardial infarction. My doctors tell me I must reduce my pain because it is killing me. My pain management doctor's hands are tied because of the DEA. I cannot get my pain reduced, so I am stuck.

Just like always, it's all China's fault. Seriously, aren't you getting tired of it?

Brian oversimplifies this. The opium war resulted not only in societal meltdown in China but it resulted in China losing territory such as Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan which was taken by force from Western powers and then by Japan in WWII. Read about the unequal treaties. They are so hostile to America, because America is the new British Empire in their view. That's why they are building up their navy in the South China Sea because never again to them will they be invaded again.

Anyways, American society and the breakdown of American families is to blame for the drug crisis. How is this China's fault? China isn't forcing people to take drugs. American's demand drugs and China or some other country with the drug cartels are more than happy to supply it. Supply & demand.

I thought America was the land of the free and personal responsbility? Maybe control yourselves and don't do drugs instead of blaming foreign countries for your vices?

Lol! Didn’t the USA did this to South America back in the 70s and 80s.

Wasn't the founder of Yale University an opium smuggler to China and a slave trader? I beleive he used his immense criminal fortune to give Yale it's initial endowment. And; "Warren Delano Jr. Warren Delano Jr. (July 13, 1809 – January 17, 1898) was an American merchant who made a large fortune smuggling illegal opium into China. He was the maternal grandfather of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt." It wasn't just the British.

For not fixing our own borders, we did this to ourselves.

I dont want to hear this crap, the government started regulating pain pills that you could get from a family doctor for cheap, now it's almost impossible, prescription pain pills were safer than buying stuff on the street, people in pain can't wait two months to get an appointment and 500 dollars a month to see a pain specialist, thank the government for this

This is such a ridiculous accusation. Opium War is the one that the British government forced China to legalize opium trade. As far as I know China has the harshest drug law.

Spot On Brian. I recall in the '70-'80s, Russia and China BOTH claimed that the USA would "Fall from within" - because of the Americans' "Weakness for Drugs." We laughed at that prediction, citing our Military Strength, + the fact that drug abusers made up a Small percentage of Americans, etc etc. Who's laughing NOW?

A person nowadays doesn’t have to pull a trigger to take a persons life, simply slip them some fentanyl and game over. Truly scary thinking someone could slip something so deadly into your drink and not know it.

Fentanyl is only a prescription drug in most countries. The more critical question here is not China, but why is fentanyl mainly a problem in the United States and not in other countries?

The government had a war on opioids in the United States. The people that was hooked on the opiate the United States let them have. A big percentage of those people switched tragically to completely uncontrolled street drugs. And this past virus thing has almost stopped treatment centers, drug rehabs . I'm really starting to get a bad feeling in the direction the world has turned.
