👉 Learn how to determine the figure given four points. A quadrilateral is a polygon with four sides. Some of the types of quadrilaterals are: parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhombus, kite, trapezoid, etc. Each of the types of quadrilateral has its properties.

Given four points that represent the vertices of a quadrilateral, we can determine the figure by using our knowledge of the properties of quadrilaterals. Some of the things that we look out for are: parallel sides, equal sides, perpendicular sides/diagonals, etc.

A very simple method, especially since I just had to teach myself how to determine whether a triangle is right or not using only points. My teacher's explanation was much more difficult. Thanks!

I think that you forgot to check that the mid points of diagonals are the same. Your check also classifies a symmetric trapezoid as a rectangle.

Thank you so much for this method! This is so much easier than what my IM1 teacher does.

The dark rectangle is diagonal facing right with 2 points on each end of it incase it needs to become a stetcher, yahoo! Guys thanks
The logo and the lines are light and face the otherway

What if the 4 points given formed a straight line with each point equidistant to one another? This wouldn’t work in that case.
