Did you know? The B-52's song "Rock Lobster" inspired John Lennon to resume making music in 1980 because it reminded him of his wife Yoko's work. MTV execs created the "Unplugged" series after seeing Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull perform acoustically but later rejected his request to appear on the show, deeming the band too old for their teen demographic. Waylon Jennings, Buddy Holly’s bass player, avoided the fatal plane crash that killed Holly by losing a coin toss and taking the bus instead.

Oof. Hearing someone say that their music reminds them of Yoko Ono is a real burn.

After Waylon Jennings found out about the plane crash of Buddy Holly Waylon told a reporter that if he could go back he would have never of said that to Holly. He said that he would never forgive himself for having said that to Holly

Tull is legend! I saw them multiple times (Being soundly impaired, I can’t remember how many!😁), and was blown away!! Ian making his flute disappear and appear, while his distinguished flare in entertaining, while he draws you in with his voice, astounded me! Plus, his flute was one piece, which means having perfect pitch was no labor for him! He was just so gifted, and I miss not going to his concerts.

I would 100% loved to have seen Jethro Tull on Unplugged. They are one of the most underrated bands ever. They would have fit in with the early 90s music scene imo

And since that time Waylon lived with remorse all his life and never forgave himself for that phrase.😎

I will never get over the snubs for RocknRoll Hall of Fame and the diss for Jethro Tull. One of the main criteria for inclusion is influence, well, this new info about unplugged adds another merit badge to Ian Anderson and Co.

Jethro Tull is awesome. I would've watched it. And I was in their target audience at the time. Just shows you how little the people in charge really know 😊

That Jethro Tull song with that dope flute solo.... supposedly it was written by Bach (??) in whatever century he was from and Tull brought it to life!

Jethro Tull won the first ever grammy for the metal category.
They beat some of the most legendary bands like Jane's addiction, Iggy Pop, AC/DC and Metallica.

No. Waylon Jennings didn't lose the coin toss. Dion won but gave it to Richie because he didn't want to pay $36. Tommy Allsup also lossed it to Richie as well. The reason Jennings didn't go was because Big Bopper was sick and he gave his seat up as a curiosity to him

Too old to rock and roll, too young to die.

The Buddy Holly tour bus was a broken down POS, which was why they hired the plane. It really didn't have any heat.
