This Needs To Stop!

Have you ever seen a trailer for a sequel or a long anticipated movie on YouTube, only to find out that it was completely fake; it was a fan made concept trailer... without a warning in the title or thumbnail? This awful practice is something that I'll talk about in this video.

So glad SOMEBODY is acknowledging this. I just accepted it as one of those unwritten rules of the Internet

I hate the screen culture channel so much for faking these. It annoys me everytime thinking it was a real trailer and you have to check the description that its a concept.

They could easily solve this by letting users completely block channels from showing up.

Agree. We need the official public dislikes enabled again.

One of the worst things YouTube did was to hide the Dislikes on their videos. I don't understand why they did that, or how they thought that would help their business model - are they that desperate to pander to the narcissist creators who just can't deal with negative feedback ('weird' how often that narcissism often seems to correlate with dodgy/terrible quality content, huh...?) Perhaps the only answer is to report channels like these for false advertising. Since a lot of them are trading off the names and reps of big studio brands like Disney and Warner Brothers, it's in Youtube's interests to step in, if they don't want copyright lawsuits.

That's why when I see something that says "OFFICIAL TRAILER" in the headline, I will see if the ACTUAL studio has released a trailer. If not, then there's exactly 0% chance that this is anything close to "official" and is likely just click-bait.

I feel like Screen Culture is really giving us trailer editors a bad rep. We make fanmade trailers for these movies out of love for them and acknowledge that they are fanmade. Anyone who does otherwise is doing it for the money and the money only.

That’s why I watch movie trailers from official sources such as Disney, Warner Bros, Universal, their own studios, and more if I want legit upcoming movies on the way. These fake trailers don’t deserve to have my own time spent.

There is a special place in hell for people who make fake movie trailers.

After being fooled for many years, I’m surprised people still believe these trailers are real. Maybe it’s just how often I watch trailers and how in the know I am, but I IMMEDIATELY know if it’s fake or not based on the thumbnail.

Thank GOD someone is finally talking about this. These channels piss me off so much! I have had friends who have been fooled by these, along with myself

So glad to see someone finally cover screen culture. Hated them for so long with how they would make concept trailers but not say it’s a concept anywhere but deep down in the description. Not even shocked they’re making fake ai trailers now

YouTube needs to demonitize fake movie trailers, unless they specifically say in the title that the trailer is fan made.

I don't understand why the big studios aren't pushing YouTube to act on this. It hurts them the most.

This was a real problem on YouTube a decade ago. The dislike feature really helped eliminate these fake trailers. Then YouTube got rid of dislike counters and the fake trailers are back with a vengeance. Plus Hollywood is not releasing near as many movies as they used to and a lot of people are hungry for new movies and their corresponding trailers.

Since they’re using logos and specific character design, why are these not getting copyright striked into oblivion?

I blocked Screen Culture specifically. I don't watch any videos from their channel, I tell youtube not to recommend it to me and I STILL get recommenced it. So I had to block it all together

Finally somebody is talking about it! I always hated these 'fanmade' or 'concept' trailers because how they misled me. After getting fooled for more than once, I learned to differentiate fanmades from the originals. But most people don't even know the difference. Some of my colleagues still think there's an Iron Man 4 movie coming with RDJ because they watched some 'trailer' on Youtube.

Edit: nothing againts fanmade trailers though, it is always nice to see them. What I'm talking about are the likes of Screen Culture videos that hide the fact that they are fanmades.

Youtube Thumbnail Rules:
1. No videos with arrows/circles.
2. No videos with an open mouth.
3. No videos that end in a question.
4. No what if/lost version videos.
5. No trailers from unknown channels.
6. No videos of people eating.

You'll save years of your life and braincells.

Thank you for shedding some light on this. I have no problem with fan trailers and edits when they disclose themselves as such. But this just needs to stop.
