ZTE Axon M Retrospective: A Foldable Ahead of its Time

It's fairly easy to talk about foldables these days as productivity powerhouses and easy recommendations for power users. However, just before Microsoft and Samsung threw their hats into the ring, ZTE introduced the world to the Axon M, possibly the world's first viable dual screen smartphone.

Unfortunately, 5 years after its launch, few people appear to talk about the phone. So, in this video, we take the time to talk about the device and why something with (seemingly) so little impact might be worthwhile to think about for anyone interested in the state of foldables today.

I find it a little curious how people always reference the surface duo as the contemporary version of this when the LG G8X and v50 had the dual screen functionality first. And without all the notorious bugs and limitations of the duo. In fact, the LG G8X had the same chipset as the surface duo, but it also had wireless charging, modern decent cameras, NFC, hifi Dac. If you want to talk about interesting phones then faded into obscurity too soon, the LG dual screen experiments with the dual screen case were truly gems.

Even to this day, A lot of people don't realize that the LG v60, v50, G8X, and velvet, are still being supported with the latest version of Android 12, some of them will get 13. Some of them have a proper desktop mode, , stylus support, 5G in the case of the velvet, the v50 and the v60

There's also the LG Wing which technically has two screens

Good video, good kitty. I'm about to upgrade from a Axon M finally, it's been a very good phone overall and I will miss the second screen for productivity. This and my old Xperia Play are definitely the most memorable phones I've owned.
