Lindsey Graham’s tearful tribute to John McCain

Though I am a democrat, I always respected John McCain. He was truly a statesman, putting country above party politics. My Condolences to his loved ones.

It’s heartbreaking to see the evolution of Lindsey Graham. It’s saddening as someone who was raised by a conservative family that based their values on honesty, integrity, love and appreciation for our nation and everyone in it, to see someone stray so far from those values, along with their party. Honest to god, I feel as though he’s a good person, somewhere deep down. But like everyone always says, power and money corrupts. And even the best man falls.

As a lifelong Democrat, I rarely agreed with his politics but I have the greatest respect for John McCain. He was a true conservative and willing to work with those he disagreed with for the betterment of this country. I hope that his Republican friends will follow his lead by speaking truth to power and not allow this president to tarnish the party they love any longer.

As a 50-year old lesbian and Sanders supporter, I want to express my love for these two men (Lindsey and John) today and honor their friendship. I more often than not disagree with them on politics and philosophies but there is a time and a place for respectful discourse when discussing what is best for our great nation and basic humanity when it's time to just be a man. Well done Lindsey. THIS is how a real man behaves, with courage to do something so emotionally difficult, with caring, vulnerability, compassion, humor, kindness and good will.
