I couldn`t agree more Payton. I saw Midway yesterday and absolutely loved it. You touched on many of the reasons why it is such a well done film. I too am a history fan with a fondness for the WWII era and how we responded as a country to the very real threat to our freedom from not only Japan but Germay as well. Much respect to our veterans!

What fascinates me is the enormous technological progress and advances (i.decryptography and computing) during WWII.

Yes Payton, it's not about liking war it's about respecting the braveness of the men & women who gave their lives so we can live ours . My grandad served in WW2, he spent most of it in Africa and Europe . He passed on a few years ago RIP, never spoke much about it, I can only imagine the horror's he saw or went through but his silence spoke volumes to me . Anyone who serves in war demands our respect. On a happier note, good to hear ur voice is getting better 😉

Well I was looking forward to going to see this but I'd read a couple of reviews the other day giving it 2 stars & I was like, oh, hmm ok, - but so glad to see your positive take on it & I loved your heartfelt review for this Payton!!, y'know with any Roland Emmerich movie, it's never gonna be Oscar material, but y'know it's a thrill ride & yes this has been done before, but I think it is important to every once in a while, bring up this & other significant events, for ANY war in the movies, regardless of whether is subtly done or more heavy handed & it's good to have a positive message represented with the bravery of these folks! - we need that more now than ever!!! 👍
p.s. would you ever consider becoming a pilot in the future...?👩🏻‍✈️✈️

I am a Navy veteran & had the great opportunity to visit Pearl Harbor twice & see the Arizona both times. Also, I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan for almost 2 years & was able to visit Hiroshima. It really puts things into perspective about WWII & what sacrifices were made on both sides.

I took my son to see Midway so he could see history in film. He knows about my time in war, but I wanted him to see a war film where there wasn’t embedded news reporters in war like there is now. He likes history & commented that he didn’t feel like he was watching a documentary, but rather living the war through the film. I think it was a very good film & enjoyed it much better than the Pearl Harbor film in 2001.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about it.

It is a breath of fresh air to have a woman reviewing a movie. Thank you. Love your review/video. I ALWAYS SAY WE NEED WOMEN AND MINORITIES IN CHARGE. Stay healthy, stay safe, happy holidays. I bought the 4K of "Midway" now.

Definitely a movie I should take my boys to see. I was in the U.S. Army like my father before me. One of my sons joined the U.S. Navy and spent time floating around on the destroyer to which he was assigned. Since you might get a few comments on your thumbnail about this I figured this former U.S. Army Sergeant would give you some tips on saluting. Make sure your upper arm is horizontally straight from your shoulder( not angled downward). There should be a straight alignment from your finger tips to your wrist and down to your elbow (not a bend in the wrist like in your thumbnail). Don't tilt your head to your hand (like in your final salute). Ok, I know I'm being silly as you are not in the military, but for future reference

You were the 1st review I found that liked the movie. My son and I were riveted to the screen. We both know a fair amount about WW2, so we were into it. Glad they kept it real. It helps to know who was Tojo, Hirohito and the battleship Yamato. since they were not IDed with footnotes. Loved seeing a movie with true color again. When I was in high school, I read a book on Midway that told the story about the same as this movie did, I always wanted to see it on film.

In your further reading, note that the entire American victory resulted from the willingness of the low/slow torpedo plane pilots -- who by chance stumbled onto the Japanese fleet first -- to attack against hopeless odds. Most of them got slaughtered.... but, they distracted the Japanese air defenses such that the USA dive bombers could attack unmolested, and sink the Japanese carriers. The balance of world history changed in about five minutes that day, thanks to those torpron pilots.

Saw the movie, loved it. Grandfather fought in the Pacific, he was a bomber pilot.
Great review.
