Sleeping Beauty (1959) Final Battle with healthbars

The fairies rescue Phillip, arming him with the magical Sword of Truth and Shield of Virtue. An enraged Maleficent surrounds the castle with thorns but fails to stop Phillip. She confronts him, transforming into a gigantic dragon. They battle, and Phillip throws the sword, blessed by the fairies, directly into Maleficent's heart, killing her.

You know what the amusing thing is?

Maleficent's death could've been avoided.

The heroes weren't even out to destroy her; they were only trying to break the spell on Aurora and the only reason they took Maleficent down was because she jumped in to battle them. If she had only taken the loss in stride, she could've lived another day to plot revenge. Instead, she had put her reign as Mistress of All Evil on the line to ensure that a petty grudge was not undone.

That's what you call pride doing yourself in.

Maleficient's magic seems to be innate so she's likely a sorceror and she'd have to be at least level 17 to cast true polymorph.

And Phillip beat her in a fair fight, which is why he is by far the most badass Disney prince ever.
He got his money's worth out of that shield master feat in this fight.

When she dies is the best part like ever for other Disney villains like Gaston, Judge Doom, Madame Medusa but her death is not shown which is horrific for kids same for Gaston mauled by wolves after fallen death survives and more Disney villains are dead but not all like Cruella De Vil

Hmmm...didn't Flora tell Merriwether, when Merriwether wanted to turn Maleficent into a "fat old hoptoad" in the beginning at Aurora's christening that " Now, dear, you know our magic doesn't work like that. It can only do good."
They got pretty bloodthirsty by the end, casting a spell on the sword that says, "Sword of Truth/fly swift and sure/That Evil die and Good endure." (I love that "it can only do good" DOES sometimes mean "You Evil Old Witch...you simply gotta GO, girl! Bye bye for you!!!") LOL

Very good. Although I feel like one more moment is missing. As Phillip makes his way up the tower, he finds the Sleeping Beauty, Aurora, whose health bar is empty. But when he kisses her, as she wakes up, her health bar fills all the way up.

This movie was released in 1959 and the animation still look better than some of the newest animated films. I can imagine that many people were completely mind blown in the theatres back then.
