Sarah , first mapping i did was in 92, with a pc with no hard disc and msdos 3.3 lol, in one part here you say "and it pulls knock out " what you mean is it pulls timing out . this then reduces knock .also, looking at your afr, on cruise i tend to run much leaner, in the 16 to 18 :1 range, for much better economy ....it may be dependant on your cat over heating whether you can run that lean.(i am beginning to think i am invisible, this is my 3rd comment on your vids insta etc. ;))happy to help with any tech stuff you wonder about, i am just mapping a megasquirt on a, ,my design and build, , 1.4 8v gm motor, turbo, propane, 10 psi/180 bhp .daily driver . regards robert.

Cobb makes a map tuned for 91 in AZ (at least for my 04wrx). They compensate for the gas quality by running a little richer fueling and slightly less aggressive timing. Running it for almost 2 months now and quite pleased. Absolutely no knock on WOT pulls

Thanks for sharing your car experiences, especially Forester XT. Any chance you could get your Tuner guy to add a little info on what kinda changes he makes to your tune, and why? Maybe a line in there about what end results he is going for. Rock On!

Love the channel! I’ve got a 2012 WRX and have been running an e-tune for the last 45k miles. The stock Subaru tune was just terrible. I too had poor luck with the Cobb OTS tunes - lots to knock. My tuner has been great; as I’ve added mods, he tweaks the tune and I do a few pulls and he tweaks a bit more, etc.

The boost guage on the access port is much more accurate than the subaru one so not really a filler.

Good step by step on this topic -- Thanks Sarah. Question back on the engine you swapped into the Audi. I recall you used a bunch of oven cleaner. That motor has a lot of aluminum -- did you notice any staining or pitting from using the oven cleaner? I picked up an aluminum intake manifold from the early 80s and planned on getting the baked-on crud off with oven cleaner only to see that the cleaner I got says not to use it on aluminum.

Ceramic glass is legit! At first I thought it was a camera trick or something- how is that rain gliding off the windshield? I will probably get all those glass products you listed. The data-logging looks tres interesting, although I will have to learn. Baby steps.

A 3rd gear WOT pull is a 3rd gear pull in I, S or S# mode. exactly the same thing. However.. if your tuner gave you different settings for each mode, then you might have slightly different WOT results. I had my tune the same in all modes, mainly cause she (wifey) uses I-mode most of time.. (same throttle sensitivity and same psi)
