About the weather and temperature I assure you that this was not the case late 70's or even 80's. My mom was born to Nifi village which is between Angonas and Kardakata and it was absolutely Alpine vegetation. Two Very tall walnut trees were across the house and blocked all the view across to Zola village and all around were tall cypress trees sprouces and firs and also other species like carobs or almond trees. But the fires that erupted on the late 80's then mid 90's and around first decade of the new millennia destroyed at least 60% of the total plant volume of the island. Otherwise I remember vividly that even at the summer we needed a couple of thin blankets to sleep at night time cause the temperature dropped sharply in the night. If a very hot day you visit the top of the mount Ainos and then rush down to Argostoli you will see what I mean.
