And whose going to tell me when a phrase or sentence is in either "case" so I could go " ein, eine, einer mean here is taken for granted that the only thing missing here for us to use Ein was to be told about the 4 cases...then how to know when you are facing either case and react accordingly?

Why is there a difference with animals? Why is it ein hund and eine katze? Why isnt it the same? Why at the end were there 3 different ones including einen if it all means ‘a’
