I heard them yesterday in an untreated, small hotel room. I couldn't believe how well they performed in such a room. No boomy bass anywhere, no holes in the bass either, smooth, clear highs, holographic imaging and simply a wonderful, coherent sound. Impressed. To bad they are way above my budget.

I love the tweeter design. The driver is left small enough to keep the energy in a well managed window. This allows them to use a fairly standard but accurate horn. The uniformity of it's waved must be delicious. Hope I get to hear some soon.

Thoughts on Genelec 8040´s for mixing/mastering? i know that they have a pair at Dubplates & Mastering in Berlin(probably for referencing).
I quite like the Genelecs sound and enjoy them for producing and getting a rough mix. Especially with the sub (i much prefer the genelec standalone subs compared other brands like focal, neumann etc.).
I´m thinking i need a upgrade to get better detail when mixing(and mastering) - especially in the highs.
I´m looking to upgrade to something like the focal trios that you already reviewed. and would love to hear if you think that would be a big improvement from the Genelec 2.1 system that im accustomed to.
