In Robotics we used an algorithm named RANSAC to create a Line that would fit our Data. I assume it is not as accurate as linear regression, but it also is a lot simpler. Would you consider RANSAC useable?

In three dimensional space, using two features, e.g. at 10:00, how can y be both the value of the vertical axis as well as the approximation of the plane?
As far as I understood it, our plane equation is the Hessesche Normalform. Isn't the y in y ≈ wᵗ x + b the distance of x to our plane?
