By President Trump’s own estimates, the cost of his southern border wall has ballooned from $4-billion to $12-billion. And an internal report from the Department of Homeland Security predicts a whopping $22-billion price tag. The U.S. government needs to employ eminent domain to acquire the private land in order to build their public wall…which could send those costs soaring even higher.

Oh and fyi, NYC alone spent $12B on the migrant crisis in one year. The wall would saved saved NYC $12B.

I’d rather spend 22 billion to help protect Americans and keep our criminals, then send almost 100 billion to other countries.

Exactly what I said the day the wall was announced: never gonna happen because of land ownership and the cost of lengthy court battles.

What I wouldn't give to have that 22 billion go to education and infrastructure.

As some1 from a border state, I just want to say that it was reported that no Senator (Democrat or Republican) from the 4 border states will support the vote for the border wall, and an article shows that the states that want the wall the most are almost all landlocked states. Here's 4 main reasons why the border wall won't work/is not worth the money hence why border state politicians don't support it: 1) Odds are that if the U.S. ends up paying for it, we (border state citizens) will have to pay more for it now and more than likely our states will pay additional taxes for repairs, upkeep, and security which other states won't (and we will argue that if this wall is keeping the entire country safe, every state should pay for it and not just us). 2) In the last 5 years, more immigrants from Mexico are returning home than entering the U.S. since their economy is growing and healthcare and other standards of living are also improving, so building a wall will make it hard for them to leave the country, and for those that do keep coming all they need are tunnels and boats to get around it. 3) Back when George Bush Jr. initiated a plan to build a border fence, only 1/3 of the 1, 900 miles got fenced because the border isn't just flat terrain for the entire distance; there are mountains, rivers (Rio Grande), desert, the occasional forest, and the California fault line, all of which make building any significant structure nearly impossible in those areas. 4) 1 article online said the current border wall plan would be for the government to close off/take all land owned within 10 miles of the border and prevent any future development to better guard the border, but with many cities (San Diego and El Paso for example) so close to the border, millions would lose their homes/jobs and would be displaced. So, ultimately, when you look at the facts for possibility of success and consider how this border wall would hurt Americans/the American economy, it is not worth it.

I'm glad that Putin didn't tell Trump that the wall should include machine gun turrets in case the asylum seekers started throwing their flip-flops in the direction of the border defenders.

The cost of illegal aliens to the taxpayers in the US is approximately 900 billion dollars year. And that's probably a low estimate considering illegal aliens in prison and all the government services the children of the illegal aliens receive since most of their parents have only a tenth grade education and can't provide for their own children.

People starting out a new life in a new country the first thing they do is break the law. Does this make them more likely to become law-abiding citizens at some Future Point? The next time they have a difficult decision to make between right and wrong are they going to choose the right or are they going to choose the wrong again?

And their children are watching.
Like I tell my nieces and nephews. The right thing to do is usually the very thing that is the hardest to do. You make one wrong decision and it's that much easier to make the next wrong decision.

If you are so gullible to believe Mexico is paying for the wall, I am buying a new computer tomorrow and will be sending you the bill for a full reimbursement of my purchase price. I thank you in advance.

That's right trump supporters at least 10 billion dollars to do build a wall if u hear 200 300 400 million it means there is no wall maybe a fence 😂

The wall is actually impossible. This is stupid, who would actually pay 4 million to 12 million dollars for a wall. People can use a boat to go around, build tunnels, etc.

Hi I am a dreamer protected by DACA I don't know any other country besides the U.S., one proposal that I would take to the table would be that why not make dreamers pay for that wall. I as long as any other dreamer that's willing to stay in this country should pay an additional fee of $200 every two years when renewing our permits. We are 800, 000 dreamers that would be paying $200 every two years. A total of $1, 600, 000 towards that wall every two years. We dreamers could also make America great again by paying for the wall that Americans want so bad. And its not if we want to we have to if we want to remain in this country we call home.

Us dreamer can't imagine what would be of us in another country we don't know.

Please help.

Rather it not be the compromise that is reached, but many Dreamers could pay $10k or even $20k (as long as they can pay it over time), and would likely pay to be able to stay. That would cover the costs of the wall and more. Reaching a compromise is better than sending this people home. Some came as children, toddlers, and this is the only country they call home. Some have US citizen children and siblings. Hope they can stay, even if the cost is an unsavory compromise.
