GOLD and SILVER I’d buy TODAY if I was starting over

It’s hard to enter into stacking gold and silver and know exactly what you want to buy that won’t affect you down the road when trying to sell. You may have a plan and then that plan goes out the window once you see all the shiny gold and silver. This is what I’d buy today if I was starting over.

I started out very lost and made decisions that I later found weren't to my liking. So I sold it all off focused on what I truly enjoyed holding and researching. I decided to ignore the "stacker" and embrace the historical collector in me. I have a WW2 homefront collection. Including walkers, mercs, coin bracelets sent back to loved ones with inscriptions, etc. I also collected the shell casing lincoln cents, war nickels, short snorters, etc. So yes, there's lots of silver in my collection, but other stuff, too. Like sterling silver star pins for the sons serving, forget me not inscribed bracelets for Christmas, valentines Day, and fathers Day. There's something magical to hand over a coin to a non coin person and describe that year of 1814. The white house is in ashes, capital hill is in rubble, New Orleans has 5500 professional british troops coming ashore. It's pretty easy to imagine when holding a coin that was there! Yes, its silver, or copper, yes its got value, but it tells a story. That shiny bullion round just doesn't grab my attention like a dusty, beat-up coin that's 210 years old. So, I stack historical metals, usually circulated or close to cull. I'll get ms65 or ms66 in the first types, but my love is the survivor coin. The coin that has a square hole from a square nail. The coin with two holes in the middle from a homemade toy for a child from long ago. My choices aren't the most profitable, but I always have a coin on me to share a cool story with a stranger. I've even carried a wildman thaler, just to ask if they knew Bigfoot had a coin from 1664. So that's my stacking perspective, right or wrong, it's very much close to my heart. Hope this inspires a new collector that doesn't know what to do.

Excellent stacking advice. My thoughts exactly. ASEs, 90%, American Gold Coins. Keep it simple and highly liquid. Yes Sir, Keep on keeping on.

I think silver rounds are still the best way to get the most silver for your buck, and I think the silver maples(post2018), britannias and philarmonic and krugerands have less premium than eagles and are still recognized worldwide. junk silver is my third choice (which are a bargain right now premium wise). You are spot on on your gold choices :)

90% is only going to get more rare as time goes on. It might be pretty plentiful now, but it’s going to be very interesting to see down the line! Great video bro.

If I had a Time Machine I’d pick up all the fractional gold buffalo sets I could afford in 2008 lol

Maples carry lower premiums, both silver and gold (the gold is 24k gold) very recognizable coins worldwide! But I also agree about the constitutional silver, I really like that stuff

And they are still sovereign coins, I think owning a sovereign countries coins is a must, but of course, at the lowest premium possible

I started stacking about a year ago. I love the Libertads too. Last October when silver dipped below $22 an ounce I loaded up on 23 silver 1 onzas. My regret? Shoulda bought more but that’s hindsight. No regrets when I pull those tubes outta the safe. Was I tempted to sell them with the recent run up of silver? Yes. I resisted the urge to sell.

I agree. I am a much bigger fan of the reverse proof Libertads than the normal proofs. Are they beautiful? Sure. Just reverse proof will always be more rare/ valuable.

I am currently stalking the market. Always an eye on things and where to get good deals. Them 2024 LIbertads will probably be out in a month or two…. Last year was just dumb luck with a low spot price and the release of Libertads.

I started out pre covid purchasing things I liked. I quickly transitioned to buying stuff as close to spot to get the most bang for my buck. I still continue with that ideology buying solely 90% and cheap generic rounds. Also culled American eagles when they are in the discount bin.

I’m new to stacking; Less than 2 years. But I agree with your perspective. If I could go back I would stack differently as far as what types of coins I was buying. For example: I bought a few first strikes myself and proofs and I look back on them and I wonder what I was thinking now that I’m a little more savvy and slightly less ignorant. Beautiful coins but not really what I was trying to accomplish.

I agree 100% on the silver eagle design. Wish I would have started stacking before this year.

The longer I stack. I seem to gravitate towards Vintage Rounds. Really enjoy hitting LCS all over the place. The hunt is part of the fun….

You are right about junk silver coins. Buy it by the bag load!

Why are you using common sense? Stop it, it's not good for my profit....LOL. Thanks for the video young man 👍👍👍. When I started in January, I naively assumed that online was the way to go; that was a huge lesson. LCS is the way to go, as in $40 cheaper for a 1/10 and 1/4 AGE than online. And I would not waste my time and money on Apmex bars or Apmex anything for that matter. But I love my first silver bar: a Bison Bullion hand pour 10 ouncer!

Excellent suggestions. I kinda wish instead of buying rounds I would have just bought constitutional. But thats ok. I love it all. I like to stack for weight. Then every now and then buy a nice piece with a higher premium just to keep it interesting.

I am not sure I'd change a thing IF I were to start stacking at the age I did 25+ years ago.
I'd seek the most recognizable, most liquid form of silver and gold that my predetermined budget would buy.
Once at a comfortable amount in my stack, I might splurge on some real pretty premium pieces.
IF I were starting out at my current age of 65, I would take a certain percentage of my liquid net worth and cash and buy a monster box of type 1 silver eagles,
one thousand pretty BU Roosevelt dimes, and the rest on GOLD eagles, buffalos, maples, and fractionals.

silver buffalo or prospecter rounds are the best..closest to spot ..constitutional can be tricky especially morgans or peace..the have two faces..collectable or spot silver...which can leave you at a loss.
