We got the chimey opened on the left side, once the last few mm of brick were knocked through all the remaining concrete blocks on that side were easily removed with the hammer. The load of the chimney made it so a hammer, or even a sledge hammer couldn't budge the blocks. The chimney is full of rubble and sand, so will be getting supported with a brace across the opening to prevent it all draining out!
