Joel I’m shocked man, I’m shocked you said they didn’t defend the run well against Minnesota. They help Ibrahim to 3.2/carry, the UM game was a total anomaly, same as 2016

Perfect blue print, but you left out 1 point. Penn State needs to do it for 4 quarters! Is there defense strong enough to out last that explosive Ohio State offense?

Penn State freaked out and went do or die in the 3rd quarter. 2 or 3 missed 4th downs is the same as 2 or 3 turnovers.

Osu fans should quit blabbing about "we have a defense now." No, no one knows if osu has a defense yet. They have not faced a good team with a good qb and run game. Its not osu's fault their schedule is full of losing teams, cant predict that when the schedule is made, BUT, fact is, they havent played anyone good yet. PSU may be a decent test, maybe. Maryland has a good qb. Michigan has a good qb and run game. Til then, shut about about having a defense.

Just a couple of observations. (1) I've heard Joel mention more than once that Iowa made OSU kick four field goals; PSU also made Mich kick four FGs in their game. (2) PSU not defending well against the Minnesota run game is both true and false. PSU had 175 yards rushing, Minn had 165, but PSU did it on 10 less carries. Likewise Ibrahim had 102 yards, but it took 30 carries. (3) A lot of stock has been put into PSU's win vs Minnesota, but that has to be tempered by the fact that the Gophers had a true freshman QB starting the game who was only 4/10 for 0TDs 2INTs for his entire career. And this was his first start. Oh yeah, and during a white out. So, make of these what you will, just putting out there for your perusal.

This is not the defense for osu of last year. Penn State is not going to control the game by running the ball. Analogy wrong! OSU will win and cover.... running game, passing game.... Penn State cant stop it.

There's one big thing that Joel is leaving out compared to this year and last year, Penn State and Michigan are going to be dealing with a different defense than last year. These two teams are not going to score easily on this defense, the winner of the Penn State and Ohio State game will be determined on what defense is playing better.

Only could OSU be considered as "showing a weakness" when they scored 4 times in the 1st Quarter (vs. a defensive touchdown), hold their opponent to a single offensive score in the 1st Half (another dreaded field goal!), and then shut them out offensively in the 2nd Half while scoring an additional 4 touchdowns... What degree of perfection/domination do you require?

Penn State is at home and will play tough against OSU, they always do. But OSU has a passing attack that will win it but it will be close.

Looking forward to your analysis on Ohio state vs Penn State, is really Penn State played good or Ohio state play calls too conservative and cute with all those screen passes instead of turning those receivers loose, and let them run free in the open space. Hopefully they won’t make the same mistake again when they play the team up north

saying penn state didn’t do well against the run against minnesota is just ignorance in my opinion. they held minnesota under 4 yards a carry on 46 rushes. it took ibrahim 30 carries late in the game, against the backups, to get his 100 yards. simply looking at the total yards doesn’t tell the whole story, most of which came from a couple chunk plays
