We recently presented a webinar ‘Mid-Surfacing & Shell Meshing of Complex Geometries’ in conjunction with MSC Software, looking at best practices in MSC Apex.
This was focused on a typical aerospace component, a thin-walled machined shear panel, with the following,

- Variable Thickness
- Fastener Holes
We highlighted a couple of different approaches to maximise efficiency for this type of structural component,
Workflow 1 – ‘CAD to Results’

- Attribution and Verification (34:26)
Workflow 2 – ‘Legacy FEA Model’
- Orphan Model Manipulation (49:00)
