Mam, you never fail to amaze me when it comes to flawless explanations and top- tier content. The topic of hormones in this chapter was really one of those topics I had hard time revising due to the recurring opposite functions each hormone has to each other. When cytokinin and auxin are present in equal levels, the parenchyma cells form an undifferentiated callus. More cytokinin induces growth of shoot buds, while more auxin induces root formation.high relative ratio of cytokinin:auxin led to shoot formation, whereas the opposite led to root formation. A more intermediate ratio led to undifferentiated growth (Figure 1(a)). It was suggested that the cytokinins promoted shoot organogenesis, inhibited root organogenesis, and promoted cell division.
