New Rolls-Royce Spectre 2024 - Complete Review
First ever electric car by Rolls-Royce in their history of 120 years. Monolithic design to mimic a crouching lion, weighing about 3 tons. Big like a boat but with 0.25 drag coefficient same as tesla models X. Over 5.5 meters long. Over 2 meters of width. 7 kilometers of cabling, Most luxurious EV ever. probably around 375 grands . Widest grille ever on a Rolls-Royce production car. 830 hours of effort to redesign the Spirit of Ecstasy. 23 inch wheels for the first time in a Rolls-Royce. In this video we are going to have a look at the upcoming first ever electric vehicle by Rolls-Royce. It is to be released in the 4th quarter in 2023. Small things make perfection, but perfection is no small thing. This is a famous quote by Henry Royce, founder of Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce has an obsession with perfection. It is said that this is the most luxurious electric car ever. According to Rolls-Royce it took inspiration from the old Phantom Coupe. Before checking the inside lets start with the exterior as usual.
Exterior
Monolithic design, uninterrupted lines, long wheelbase. Monolithic means Rolls-Royce wanted to make you feel the whole car is a single piece unlike something built with a lot of components combined together. Rolls-Royce is calling this a super coupe. Its because this is definitely bigger than a normal coupe. Turning radius is about 12.7 m. Length: 5453 mm. Width: 2080 mm. Height: 1559 mm. Wheelbase: 3210 mm. Weight: 2975 kg.
Let’s move on to the headlights. It has split headlights with 4 lamps cluster for the main lower part and LED daytime running lights for the upper part. These two parts headlights are more common now. Looks like human eye brows. Don’t you think?. We saw split headlights in Phantom coupe. Rolls-Royce calls Spectre as the “spiritual successor” of the phantom coupe.
Then there are 3 lines on the side of the body. Rolls-Royce calls these the roof line also known as silhouette line, shoulder line and the waft line. Silhouette line is the one at the top of the roof. Middle one is called the shoulder line and finally at the bottom we have the waft line. Towards the front fender, shoulder line and the waft line taper creating a nice look. Next we have the rear hinged doors. These are 1.5 meters in length. And Largest doors on a Rolls-Royce. Their size makes entering and exiting the car a graceful act. Have you noticed something missing from the sides? This color is also the first time ever color option for the exterior. This yellowish greenish color is called Chartreuse.
Moving to the back, vertical taillights with a casing are also unique and add elegance to this masterpiece. It is consistent with the front grille lines. Down there we have a diffuser as well. In the rear right of the car, we have the charging port which supports both AC and DC fast charging.
We have no data about the boot space, it seems like there is a considerably good boot space there.
Performance
All trims of Spectres will come with a dual-motor electric powertrain with 577 horsepower and 664 lb-ft or 900 Nm of torque. Rolls-Royce says that's enough to move the 6559 lb coupe from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. Or 0-100 kmh in 4.4 seconds. If we compare that to the latest tesla model S plaid, it does 0-60 in around 2.1 seconds. Top Speed is about 155 mph or 250 kmh. Driving range is about 323 miles or 520 km. Rolls-Royce hasn't said how large the Spectre's battery is but it will be around 105 kWh. When it comes to charging it would take around 11 hours to get fully charged and if you plug it into a fast charger it would take around 35 mins to charge up to 60% of full capacity. It is all-wheel drive and all-wheel steer. Turning radius is about 12.7 m.
There are 2 driving modes, the normal driving mode and one pedal driving mode. Normal mode is relatively low recuperation so it feels like driving a Rolls-Royce, you've got that waftability.
Spectre’s second row is spacious, it is built with 4 full size adults in mind. The continuous seat design wraps itself around the passenger.
