Had 2, both 5 litre, one coupe, one saloon. The smoothest cars I've ever been in, years ahead of anything offered by BMW, Audi and Rolls Royce at the time, but still not as stunning looking as a W126.

Mercedes was once the best car in the world, extremely reliable and quality cars. Not so much today, if you can make it past 5 years of ownership without major problems you are lucky. Most people won't buy an S-class older than 10 years, because of how unreliable they are and the repair costs are just outrages!

As much as I love Mercedes of this era, you gotta admit it was quite shady of them to reverse engineer the Citroens Hydractive system and claim they developed their own system, rather than license it like Rolls Royce and Bentley did.
