Wish: Disney's Greatest Disappointment

Wish is the greatest failure of Disney in modern times, a 100th anniversary film that didn't work at all. So much to the point where this video is almost as long as the runtime of the film counting the credits.

Fun Fact: This Video is 6 minutes shorter than the runtime of the entire film including credits. I also just wanted to post this to say that I wanted to make this video with the music from the film, which meant that the video would be already claimed by Disney and I don't get any monetization from it, but that's okay because it doesn't matter as I just wanted to express my feelings of the final film, thank you for watching.

That fact that Leo, a movie about a talking Adam Sandler reptile, is way more loved and scored higher than Wish really shows how much Disney has fallen.

Starboy. Why did they cut Starboy? I've seen several animatics now from the fans with starboy. We were so SO robbed.

I genuinely think if they had gone with the original plans for Asha and Star to have a romance, have the king and queen be an evil power couple and actually hired musical theatre writers for the music, we could have had a very different and better movie.

And honestly if Disney’s brand now wasn’t only nostalgia and fan service, maybe I could appreciate more of the hints and Easter eggs to the past and see them as genuine honoring of it. But since that’s Disney’s only thing now, all I see it is nothing more than hollow fan service with no purpose.

This one is a really big disappointment and I think it’s my breaking point. I love Disney but I hate what it chooses to be now.

Meet the Robinsons wasn’t included in the fireworks end credits, because the message of the movie is keep moving forward, and all Disney was thinking during this movie was keep moving backwards

I find it quite sad that THIS is the way people will remember Disney's biggest celebration ever....

Honestly I felt quite bad for Magnifico at the end. His narcissism came out of nowhere IMO. His cause seemed overly cautious, but justified. Then, because he's trying to become powerful enough to protect what he thinks is right, he's evil forever with no chance of saving him? THEN he's trapped in a mirror shard...FOREVER?!???! Like everything else in the movie, it was completely not earned. You feel relief when Scar or Gaston dies because the heros are safe from murderers. Here, I felt like he deserved at least 5 minutes spent trying to get the green magic off him. Not even his wife?? NO ONE

To me, the worst part of this movie is the potential that it had. The early concepts were so good, and they just threw those all away for this generic mess. And if I see one more “quirky” Disney main character, I will scream.

They really should have made Once Upon a Studio a full-length movie to celebrate the anniversary.
Maybe the plot could be about an intern at Disney who aspires to be an animator but struggles with a block and fear of rejection as Disney's most iconic characters help to inspire him to reach for the stars by teaching him everything Walt stood for like innovation, ambition, creativity, hard work etc.

Everyone forgets that Magnifico has PTSD. He even has a flashback right there on screen. I have PTSD as well, and that's part of why it's so maddening to see Magnifico treated like an irredeemable sleazeball when the only bad decision he ever made, reading the Evil Macguffin, was fueled by anxiety and paranoia as a direct result of that PTSD.

Not only that, but he's a victim. He's literally been possessed, and is acting out of his established character. But no one treats the situation like that, they're just "oh well this one line in the book says we can't get him back, oh well." Not like they have a magic star that can grant wishes with seemingly no limitations....wait.

The saddest thing is that I don’t think we will get Disney’s take on The Princess and the Pea, Thumbelina, Rumplestilskin, Swan Lake, Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and the now cancelled Jack and the Beanstalk adaptation all because Disney wants to move away from fairy tales and focus on either originals or sequels. The originals, like Strange World and Wish, are examples of Disney’s lack of understanding of what made modern films like Wreck It Ralph and Disney fairy tale inspired films like Frozen so successful.

The fact people wanted to rewrite Wish themselves is proof of how far Disney has fallen. And now they're becoming increasingly desperate with all the sequels they're churning out, which I don't think will work out for them if Lightyear or The Marvels is anything to go by.

They realize that people aren't going to see every movie they put out regardless of quality now and are desperate to get people back on their side but the cracks have become way too big to ignore.

The fact that literally every other animated studio, including Illumination of all studios, put out movies that turned out huge profits, plus the Barbenheimer craze that dominated the summer box office, just goes to show Disney has lost their way, and it's gonna take an insane dedication to try to bring their reputation back up, but I'm not gonna hold out hope that's gonna happen.

It’s almost cringeworthy to see how proud the crew seem of the film. They just act like they did everything right and made something epic when that is the furthest thing from reality.

i literally said “how are they supposed to win if they’re all chained up” then they started singing…💀

Simon becoming depressed after losing his wish is so stupid, because NO ONE ELSE HAS HAD THAT HAPPEN

Let’s not beat ourselves down too much folks. We lost the studio that made our childhood, but that means that now someone else with passion and talent has the chance to take the spotlight and make the childhood of the next generation. All good things must end to be good.

If they were worried about Star being too powerful, then nerf him. The longer he's on Earth, the more he loses his power or have him sacrifice himself to Magnifico for Asha and then the king starts draining him of his power.

To that final battle, queue the scene of Shrek yelling, "STOP SINGING!"

i wish they did more with the whole "everyone feels empty and missing a part of themselves without their wish" thing. They never actually showed that the people of Rosas felt like something was missing everybody was completely fine, Simon was the only person who became depressed after he gave away his wish.

I still can't get over the fact that Disney perfectly captured themselves as the villain.
