Anyone else coming here after the big Adobe Photography plan price hike? I've been using Affinity designer since 2017, but the main reason I was still using Photoshop was this feature. I know, I know, you can do it better manually but that takes ages. A quick and dirty object selecter and then some fine tuning in the mask will do most of what I need. Sure hope this will also be available for RAW editing.

I have tried the Betas and have run into a couple of bugs. One occurs when switching between apps on Windows. If you click on Photo from Designer and try to create patterns in Photo, it locks up for me. I let them know, and they are checking it out. The next issue I ran into was while creating brushes in Designer for the vector brush. I tried duplicating a vector and then adjusting it, and it would not let me select it! So that is kind of a major bug! I let Serif know about the Beta crew! Hopefully, they fix it soon! Other than that I really like it!

Would love to see that auto-selected wolf against a different photo background, so we could see how natural the edge transition looks. (It'd be cool if there were edge presets for hairy &/or fibrous outlines...)

Every time I see 'Affinity update!' I get excited, and then have to calm down because it won't be what I'm hoping for.

Huge fan of the Affinity apps, but I was so disappointed when they removed the 'standalone' option for dual monitor Macs. Because I'm still using v1, I can have all my tools on one monitor, and the images on the other. Since v2, the primary toolbar must be attached to an image, there's no standalone setup. Since Mac video management is complicated, it's unlikely they'll ever go back, and it makes me sad to keep missing new features. (Not that AI interests me, but so so many little quirks were fixed in v2 that I still have to put up with in v1.)

I wonder how it will do with whispy hair and fur? If they developed it enough that it does a good job with those I'd consider using it.

i really don't want to go use adobe anymore but boy do i miss photo management... being able to import and organize, see an entire catalogue and manipulate a bunch of pics with similar settings then batch export. opening one at a time is a bit of a drag. i'm new to Affinity, are they going to add anything like this?

I didn't know this was available with the last update. I only work in the betas. Well I guess my lazy butt need to go ahead and install the latest beta version that I DL'd a few days ago. The thing bugs me everyday when I jump into Affinity. This looks niiice! And it's about time too! Lol. It's essentially an editable background remover (plus more). I'm glad too because I'm wayy too impatient and overly meticulous to do intricate selections. It ALWAYS take me far too long.🤨

Hey DM - Now ya knooow... It would be great if you were to use some of your new fangled goodies in a couple of your upcoming tutorials so that folks can see them in action. Whacha think about that self-promotion?

This of course is super useful and very welcome, but my Mac is old (late 2015 and therefore stuck on Monterey), I don't have the dosh to buy a new one, and in order to use these super exciting new Affinity A.I. tools (let's call a spade a spade?), I would prefer to gnaw my own arms off than to switch to Windose. I really hope Affinity fixes this.

But, did they steal some else's artwork to train their models?

Most artists are not only concerned about their OWN artwork being stolen. They don't want ANYONE'S artwork to be stolen. We all have no problems with companies using artwork for which permissions have been given by the artists for their artwork to be used for training models. But, we all want those permissions to be explicitly and specifically for training models. So far, I have seen no vendor claiming to use models built ONLY upon artwork with those specific permissions given.

I already have a lifetime affinity licence, will this cost anymore, and do I have to get the beta version of affinity to get this, or just do it on affinity 2.
