JustAnswer Customer: hello I have a bosch dryer that keeps shutting off after about 5-10 min
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Can you guesstimate how old your Bosch is?
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
JustAnswer Customer: Here is the model number.
JustAnswer Customer: WTVC4300US/10
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
JustAnswer Customer: If it is an easy fix i will give it a shot, if not hiring a repair man is not a problem
Pearl Wilson: Assistant: Anything else we should know to help you best?
JustAnswer Customer: the only thing is that the lint filter is about one-half clogged with what appears to be some sort of paint (as in i cannot clean out half of the lint filter)
Kelly: Appliance Technician: Thanks for counting on us to help with your appliance problem.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: My name is * * I look forward to helping you!
Kelly: Appliance Technician: Inside the dryer are two metal strips that sense the moisture in the clothes.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The clothing passes over the strips and create an electrical path with the moisture in them.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The metal strips sense the resistance in that electrical path and send that resistance reading to the control.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The control then reads the resistance reading, interprets the resistance and from that reading determines how long the dryer needs to run.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The less moisture in the clothing, the higher the resistance.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The problem is that over time, detergent and softener residue builds up on the metal sensor strips and creates an insulating barrier between the strips and the clothing.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: Since the strips cannot sense the moisture in the clothing because of this barrier, it sends a high resistance reading to the control.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: The control then interprets that to mean that the clothes are dry and shuts off prematurely.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: You will need to clean those strips with a Scotch Brite pad, steel wool, sand paper or other abrasive to remove that barrier.
Kelly: Appliance Technician: Any change after cleaning?
Kelly: Appliance Technician: Hello, I see this question is still open and I was just following up to see if you require further assistance.
