the prophet PBUH told a specific person to not sell what he doesn't own because it can put him in bad positions where sometimes he could not find what he sold, and people of Madeenah was selling fruits in 1 2, and even 3 years in advance and he did not prohibit it.
Prophet PBUH said: “Whoever makes a Salam sale, let him do that with a known specified measure, a known specified weight, and appoint a known specified period (of time).”

There is 1 more hadith if I am not wrong.
POPHET(PBUH) once went to madina and saw that people are selling dates before 3 years and PROPHET(PBUH) said it's allowed if they give them it on time delivery and with proper weight it was buyed.

So people who were selling it they also did not owned it or posses it and PROPHET (PBUH) allowed them Please show this hadith to ulmas and let them confirm this hadtih first and tell them tell us the final view about drop shipping thank you

If you can reach out to suppliers and negotiate a partnership, then it would be permissible as you're then a middle man. This is the route I'm trying to take, but it's not easy getting these people's attention.
