It's 2024 and I'm just discovering this gem of an Artist.. Wow!!!

I spent a week at a songwriters festival and it was amazing!!! It was great to hear the original material in its true artistic passion before their labels switched it up and gave the tune to a commercial performer. It was bizarre how many folks passed by thinking it was cover bands .

Holy shit this is really good. I thought Country music sucked, but apparently my problem was that I thought what was on the radio was Country.

I just love his voice. And he writes is own songs. Can't believe in a man that had some 19 year old girl in LA write his music. Corey is the man

I fucking love how the bass player goes full Krist Novoselic when Corey kicks into SLTS.

@09emilybaby corey smith is a legit artist. he actually writes music. he actually plays lead guitar. and, about them looking good, and him not, isn't the whole song pretty much about prettyboy nashville stars? he's not saying he looks good. i honestly dont think he cares how he looks. he writes his own music. he's extremely talented, and hes a good singer/songwriter.

I wonder if anyone here knows where this song came from ? Corey is clearly a David Allan Coe fan. Greatest country songwriter of all time

Nonononono emily... Corey Smith.. By far, one of the most talented singer/songwriters.. By far. Take it somewhere else.

Last time I checked, mainstream country coming from Nashville these days ain't anything like Cash or Willie.

Very True, I still enjoy it. I wish guys like Jamey Johnson, Ray Scott, Trent Tomlinson could make it on radio. But all have been told they are "too country" which is a ridiculous. but It is what it is.

I'm glad he found his daddy's weed ❤

@baseballP25 Corey isn't trying to be country. Listen to the song, his daddy taught him to be his own kind of man. Also, he didnt pave is way to fame through nashville he did it in Georgia. If he were trying to be country would he thrown Zepplin into a live show? I haven't heard his new record, but what I can say is most people haven't heard of him so why not start with your best songs on your first record that could make it big? idk call me crazy. Just thoughts from a huge Corey Smith fan in SD

@09emilybaby Corey Smith has more talen in his pinky than Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney would hope to have. Those two play rhythm guitar and nothing else. Song writers get paid a lot of money to keep them at the top of the charts. Good for them but respect is due to the singer/songwriter like Corey Smith.

The Genre of country is stretched, but one thing's for sure they are all family. It's a way of life. Gilbert sells songs to Aldean, and then shortly after becomes famous, Bryan sells to Currington & Travis Tritt, then becomes famous. COUNTRY IS ONE BIG FAMILY THEY ARE ALL FRIENDS. This isn't a genre to bash on one another, if you want that go listen to rap. Corey is talented but isn't going to be making any friends bashing on a genre he is trying to get into.

If you like it, go for it but it's been done before. Revisit what Waylon had to say about whether Hank done it this way. Or who Willie suggested you write your own song.
