Only .01% of a product's chemical concoction has to be changed to have a "new recipe"

*checks Internet to confirm*
Me: No wonder they emphasis so much on family friendliness. That's a past they want to forget.

The stone man syndrome thing seems like the sorta thing zombies would do to become more combat effective: bone armour as a trade-off for speed

The syphilis malaria treatment is kinda genius in its own way. It turns a horrible death sentence into a potential to live.

Wonder why the Mongolians didn't invade western Europe? Is it not because they lost a battle as they steamrolled Poland and Hungary. Not because they were tired or scared of advancing forward because why would they stop now. Not because they were brided to leave or that other European kings agree to pay tribute to them. The Reason why they didn't invade western Europe was because their Khan back home drink himself to death. That has to be the most embarrassing reason to not launch an invasion, at less in japan they had some action before losing their fleet to storms.

I think sometimes people write stuff on Reddit with the knowledge of how robots will mangle it when spoken on YouTube.

Steam engines only need a notable pressure difference in order to work. If a gas is superheated enough, one could feasibly run on just air. Liquid nitrogen and dry ice also work inside of one, and the channel "Action Lab" managed to break a steam engine with how much force liquid nitrogen produced at just room temperature.
The "chugging" you hear from a typical steam piston engine is also the only part in the drive cycle where the piston is NOT powered. It's a slow hiss of pressurized gas entering the cylinder, then the huff of all of it rushing out at once to prepare to drive the piston the other way.
Singular boilers are hardly ever "singular." They consist of pipes lined in a way that allows temperature to easily be dispersed between them, which are called "fire tubes." And a typical steam engine from 1860 still outclasses most modern diesel engines in terms of raw torque.

I feel like for a time we've all got this idea that steam engines are stupidly simple, but there are some properties of those things that just shouldn't be true with all logic and reason. And a nice lil bonus one; It took multiple centuries after the invention of the gun for rifling to become commonplace. But we went from an age of boiling water driving the world to being able to rip entire cities off the map with one blast in about 100 years. If progress follows that same exponential curve, we can expect to see inter-planetary cruise lines before Pluto orbits the sun one time from today.

-A fart once killed 10, 000 people.

-Some of the most successful bombing runs made by the Soviets and British in WWII were with biplanes (the Swordfish and Night Witches.)

-In the Vietnam War, 2 Mig-17s were shot down by A-1 Skyraiders. The A-1 Skyraider was a propeller-driven attack plane that entered service in 1946, and the MiG-17 was a jet fighter that entered service in 1952.

-The Me-163 Komet killed more of its own pilots than it did Allied aircraft.

it took more than twice as long for humans to go from killing each other with bronze swords to killing each other with steel swords than it took us to go from steel swords to atomic bombs.

It's entirely possible that the U.S. accidentally became the first nation to launch an artificial satellite into space, it was a manhole cover that was also the fastest object to exist at the time and is still the fastest to exist in atmosphere. It was done because the U.S. wanted to know what would happen if a nuke was detonated underground and the covering was a giant manhole cover.
