I use the Logos and Wordsearch apps for most of my daily Bible study. With regards to your arguments about dealing with distractions like notifications, etc., all it takes is a little discipline to overcome these... turn off notifications while you are studying the word! That's what I do. There are so many benefits for me in digital Bibles: the ability to create reading plans and stick to them; the ability to highlight and take notes within a program without messing up a physical Bible; the ability to read Bibles in parallel without picking up a separate heavy volume; the ability to call up dictionaries, concordances, interlinears, commentaries, and other resources that are built in to my program and don't take up shelf space that I don't have - all at a fraction of the cost of physical books.

Don't get me wrong: I love my physical Bibles, and I make it a point to set time aside to read from them every day. There are many benefits to physical Bibles as well. I love being able to read my Bible from a physical book at night, just before going to bed. Like you, I love the feel of them in my hands.

Just some random thoughts... Blessings to all!

I was born in the early 60's and I didn't even buy a personal computer until my early 30's. I didn't get a smart phone until my early 40's. That said, I began to love the new technology and have mainly read the Bible with that tech, iPhone and iPad, since then. I only carried my physical NIV Bible when I went to church, and even then, would often look up verses or references with the aid of one of my many bible apps.

That said, I'm changing back now in my mid 50's. Months ago, I found and starting reading my RSV Bible that I was given at church when I was 8 years old. It's still in great shape and I've fallen in love again with reading a physical Bible. Having always read the NIV translation since becoming a Christian in my mid 20's, I've decided to read other translations, from the NASB, ESV, and even the King James. And now I'm interested in buying my first premium Bible, so thanks for this channel. I've learned a ton through your reviews and I'm grateful for your diligence in making them.

Here's hoping everyone has a great December and Merry Christmas!!

I use both. At home or church, class, bible study I use my physical bible.
When taking a break from shopping it is easy to pull out my phone.

Thanks for a great video Beau! I really liked your camping illustration. I’m new to the premium Bible world. I do think that a nice Bible does something different in the way you handle it and spend time in it. Thanks also for the contest win! Jeremy Henderson

I had not thought about this before, but I almost always carry my iPhone in my blazer pocket. But, if it is raining, I take my Bible out of my blazer pocket and leave it in the house or in my car, depending where I am when the rain starts.

Wow! Thanks Zondervan! I was heavily into a ton of Star Wars groups on facebook... since I joined Everything Bibles, I turned off the notifications for those other groups. I only visit this wonderful Bible group daily!

I use Olive tree in all my devices, I started using digital Bibles about 15 years ago because of a weight issues, I use to bike commute & weight was always a consideration to be light, seeing I was carrying 20 lbs with me every day. Reading text only was good enough, but when using references and study Bible helps is very difficult in a digital format, and a print copy is always better. But I do carry 2 small print Bibles also.

Mysword is the android based bible software I use. It has public domain materials, including some of the best commentaries ever written, plus at biblesupport.com you can download tons of free materials.

I'm all for the physical bible, carry one everywhere. But for quick studies and research I use the mysword app on my samsung phone, and I use it to research and prep for sermons and teaching Sunday school

I agree about digital versus physical bibles. Digital versions are useful at times but if I have the option, I’d rather hold a real Bible in my hand. I feel the same way about books in general. I use Nook and Kindle and have a few hundred books that way but I have 6 bookcases full of real books, too. I enjoy holding a real book in my hand more.

Our senses are overstimulated by digital media and it has negative effects on how we process and remember information we take in. PlaIn ink on paper words impact our brains on a deeper level of understanding than digital words that disappear with a swipe. We interact with the temporary nature of the digital word differently than we do with ink on paper words that will remain in the space they occupy. Neil Postman wrote a book, Amusing ourselves to death, that explains the multimedia versus ink-on-paper effects on our ability to think on what we see.

I would much rather have a physical Bible! I think digital is good at times though. Holding the book and being able to flip to other books is extra helpful.

I have to have a bible in hand.. I've tried the bible app they don't feel the same... It still just feels like I'm on my phone using as I do my social media sites 😢 I can't connect with the word of God as I can with a physical Bible

That joke was just painful. I can't wait to tell it to my dad, he's gonna love it.

excellent video Beau! :) I prefer physical over digital because sometimes the digital Bibles have errors or don't open if you have bad internet or your phone dies. I do use digital from time to time, especially when studying. e-sword is my go to Bible App for my laptop. Laudete is my go to app for my phone. I prefer to hold my Bible in my hands, feel and hear the pages as I turn them and I don't have to worry about calls or notifications interrrupting my Bible reading. Great work as always Beau! God Bless (BTW this is Karenita Dawniath from EVERYTHINGS BIBLES! ;) I'll explain the name thing via PM there if you want me to)
