With either invisalign or braces, you have to keep your dental care up 100%. I've heard people lose their invisalign trays and that delays their finishing time.

So I just got invisalign 3 days ago. Here are my first impressions:
1. The pressure on my teeth is not nearly as strong as I thought it would be. I’ve had friends that almost want to cry after getting a new adjustment on their braces. At times I ask myself if they are really working, but people say they work even if they feel like they aren’t, so great!

2. You can eat and drink anything you want as long as you remove them, BUT, and it’s a big but, I still find these have changed my eating habits. The thing is, you will snack less. Much less. My ortho referred to it as the “invisalign diet”. The aligners come off easy, taking them off takes about a minute, same for putting them on… but you still have to go to a bathroom/restroom and take them off. It may sound lazy but this is something that you will not want to be doing all the time you want to eat something, so I am definitely eating less often, and when I do eat I try to cram as much food as possible into that meal to avoid getting hungry again soon and having to take them off and put them back on again. Some people may want to eat less often and I guess this would help them. This is not my case. I’m also wondering how it will be when I go out for drinks etc.

3. These aren’t just set and forget, they will be a very constant, very present thing in your life. At least 3 days in they definitely are for me, maybe I will get more used to it later on, but between taking them off and putting them on 3+ times a day (once for each meal and any time you snack) you will never “forget” you are wearing them. If you have to wear elastics like me, taking off and putting the elastics on is an extra step you will have to do 3+ times a day.

4. Speaking of elastics… while these are less noticeable than metal braces, I find myself thinking that they actually wouldn’t have been that much different from white ceramic braces. I didn’t know I was going to have to wear elastics. I don’t know if this is for the whole treatment or part of it, but I think it may be for all of it. The elastics are visible when I smile, which I wasn’t expecting and it’s a bit of a bummer. So just keep in mind that depending on your case you might have elastics showing when you smile. Not only that, because of the elastics, my upper trays have two hooks on them that were cutting my inner upper lip, so I had to buy some dental wax to put on the hooks. This makes my upper lips feel a bit fuller than before.

To summarize, while I don’t regret my decision, I wish I coukd have seen how ceramic braces would have looked on me before going with invisalign.

I got Invisalign and it was good the fist week until the metal thingy that holds the ruber band broke so 6 weeks later I get them replaced and THEY BOTH BROKE OFF! It was like 5k so it was wasted

Is it weird for me thinking braces look good

It's a waste of time and means it takes longer, as much as double the time than regular braces plus it costs more than regular.

Invisalign for smaller corrections, braces for bigger.

But what is best for mandibular advancement class 2? My children need it and I’m torn between invisalign and braces….

What is best? I’m not prioritizing cost at all. I’m prioritizing effectiveness. If i knew both were just as effective I’d choose invisalign for them in a second! But does it work well for jaw advancement?

I myself had invisalign and it worked really well EXCEPT two of my molars didn’t rotate as planned! It’s not a big big deal but in my case it seems that invisalign wasn’t as effective as braces would have been for molar roation…. So that is why I’m beginning to wonder if invisalign is good for most things but maybe not the best option for more complicated issues….

So the question is if jaw advancement is too complicated for invisalign? Could someone please help me by sharing their personal and/or professional opinions? Thank you so much in

Compliance is the main reason Invisalign can sometimes not be the right decision
