Education Series May 2022: Climate Change and Homelessness: Intersecting Crises
Показать описание
Natural Disasters are the cause of homelessness for 14 million people each year across the globe. According to the latest data, socio-economic consequences of severe weather and climate change are felt the most by low-income and housing-insecure households, and people experiencing homelessness. During this session, we not only review some of the causes of climate-related displacement — wildfires, pandemics, environmental racism, pollution, etc.—we also discuss local solutions to this global issue.
Presenters include: Saluja Siwakoti, Housing Policy Fellow at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, Sabrina Pacha, Director of Healthy Air & Water CO, and Ean Tafoya, Co-Chair Colorado Environmental Justice Action Taskforce and Colorado State Director of GreenLatinos.
This session is designed for advocates and anyone who wants to listen, learn, ask questions, and engage with this important information on combatting homelessness and improving the lives of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
