Ssj Bob. The funniest powerlifter I've ever seen. Lol

The only way to learn it is by traveling to Mt. Myouboku.

I've naturally gravitated to this lifting stance over the course of trial and error. It just feels the best for me

Bob’s on his way to being one of the greats.

I do conventional for my first 4 years. I swift to sumo due to my back injury but i did not do it well.
Then I try frog sumo, I break my conventional PR easily.
I think frog sumo is good for someone who was good at conventional deadlift.

It’s actual more comfortable than it looks. I call it the hybrid stance personally.
harrison_caton
In case anyone would like to look up this deadlift variation, this is basically an even narrower version of the semi-sumo deadlift which is also known by other names: Ed-Coan-style deadlift, unconventional deadlift, unorthodox deadlift, narrow sumo deadlift, medium sumo deadlift, squat-stance deadlift, and moderate sumo deadlift.

When I pull this way I always yell out a loud “RIBBIT” !
BIGBLOCK
i noticed SSJ Bobb use this! Shit is a REALLY cool and unique stance for deadlifting!
DaLooseGoose
guys half sumo is different. frog deadlift lets the knees go past the toes to make it more quad dominant.
half sumo is just a hybrid for ppl with different leverages.
absolutenerd
I just discovered frog sumo I have been doing it and calling it a sumo hybrid
zenontren
Im doing this without even knowing it, just feels alot better than full sumo
RyanGosring
I believe some people refer to it as the "intermediate stance." Paul Anderson deadlifted similarly to this, as well.
toximan
I do this unintentionally new to sumo and didn’t wanna go too wide
thekidmanny
My feet naturally externally rotate, so they're not straight. When I squat, I'm very close to that type of stance, but when I deadlift, my feet stay in their "natural" state like a strongman deadlift. Didn't know the frog stance existed. Good tip.

I thought Ed Coan did frog sumo. Some lifters feel these lose power by going too wide and by bringing their stance in they feel more stable. I suppose this would be based on the anatomical leverages and joint angles of the lifter.

Actually this frog-style DL was borrowed from Japanese Olympic lifting where cleans were pulled with arms between the legs. That ws also used by Paul Anderson and Dave Ashman becaus they just couldn't pull outside their legs.
DrLeroyArch
My recollection is that what's being called frog sumo here WAS the only, and original, sumo style decades ago
roderickreilly
I've been practicing this lately, I like it a lot. I still like conventional more though.
