I love big aquarium grade sponges in a sump baffle, they catch a lot of debris and the amphipods love to breed in them. Rinse them off regularly in tank water and your good to go!

Still with the Brightwell? It may start out fine but melts away to goop in your sump. Go with Marine pure. It's kinda crumbly at first but only while you handle it. Once in place its perfect and doesn't turn to mush.

Waste away totally destroyed my flourishing mixed reef. I wanted to get rid of a little excess algae the crabs weren't getting. Once I dosed it, my corals literally and slowly wasted away until it was just a clownfish. I had zoas, monti, euphyllia, you name it. No other changes to husbandry, and my tank I didn't add it to is fine.

Phosphate-E - beware, I was using it for longer time and it almost clogged up some of my smaller tubing, it deposits some white stuff everywhere including pumps. Probably depends on how much and how long it's been used and possibly it requires more water changes (but then why use it).

is it safe to use marine pure block in reef tank ? no aluminum ?
