The day has finally arrived. Xbox Game Pass is seeing massive changes to the service and, no, it's not just a simple price hike. Tiers are seeing massive adjustments as well and it looks like console users are being squeezed while PC aims for further growth.

I find it funny that they merged Xbox Live Gold and Gamepass just to introduce a separate tier later on that's just Xbox Live Gold with a confusing ass, misleading name.

This subscription service stuff is getting to be too much tbh. Sucks to see the way modern world is going.

Tbh if you wait for sales and just buy the games thats the better deal

"Play it day one wiht game pass" But not game pass core. Not game pass standard either. Such a clusterfuck lol

I'd rather buy my games instead of essentially renting them on a service like this

Matty you hit the nail on the head…

I only use Game Pass occasionally but kept it because it was always so easy to get a deal on stacking my subscription long term.

Now that it will be $15 to $20 a month once my current subscription ends, it will be time to just cancel it and maybe sub for a month every once in a while.

The price change doesn’t necessarily make me mad or anything. It just made the decision to cancel that much easier.

Xbox cant go 6 weeks without a major controversy.

Nothing beats ownership. Just buy your games and save yourself the headache and money.

If you didn't see this coming, then you weren't paying attention.

Netflix did it, Hulu did it, HBO Max, Peacock, Paramount and basically all of them did it. It will only get worse and worst of all you don’t even own these games.

I could just play solo and ONLY buy single player games. It's very hard to bully me..

Everybody thought they were getting cod on gamepass and the prices or subscription model wouldn't change. Thats next level naivety.

They don’t want to give you an annual option because then people would see the real cost which is $240 per year. It’s easier to swallow just paying monthly

Eh, the subscription is not worth it for me anyways. I purchase 2-3 triple games a year.

My biggest issue (which is reoccurring with Xbox) is that they keep overpromising and then when reality hits they just go back on their word with no explanation or communication. Anyone could've told them having CoD was gonna add to the price for it to be profitable. But they keep insisting on building the plane in the air with no long term goal or strategy. Day one on game pass was their thing, and now they're adding caveats and price hikes. Not a good spot to be in rn.

XBOX knows that they can't really make PC players budge, because they have too many options. So they do their captive audience dirty instead. I hope XBOX gamers enjoy subsidizing Call of Duty.

Big corpo infinite money glitch:
1. Release already existing product/service in their own ecosystem
2. After a few months/years. Raise the cost by 5-10%. Add additional features
3. Start to talk about how you’re “losing” money
4. Raise the price of the service 30-40%; create tiers; remove features
5. Repeat steps 1-4 and slowly force consumers into anti-consumer products

edit: We’re frogs living in slowly boiled water

edit: Someone should analyze all of the Xbox Game Pass games and calculate how much they would all cost if they were all physical media. More than half of its games would be in the $5 bin at Gamestop back in 2015. I am willing to bet that if all of the games on Game Pass were in physical format (and accounting for the bear market curve of a games price from release), that all of the games would cost $1500 or less if you bought them all physical.

Buying games i'm actually going to play at a discount >>> sub services

And i do think a lot of people feels this way, specially on PC where generations are not clearly defined. Many of us have built a backlog of hundreds of titles on Steam so just getting a game a couple of games at full price and waiting for the rest to drop is better than just having the games on essentially a rent service.

Inevitable. People who are rational and plugged into business making decisions have been saying Xbox’s model was unsustainable. Now this confirms it.

I have no horse in this race, I’d rather buy my games than rent them. Subscriptions are cancer.

Yeah when my current sub runs out I'm done, this price increase combined with the lack of actual quality games is the final straw. I'd rather just buy the game I want.
