DOES SIZE REALLY MATTER?!? FOR LUXURY WATCHES!

Does size matter is a really controversial topic, even for luxury watches!

But how big is your watch and does it really matter?!?

It could, but the answer actually depends. It depends on your taste, objective and budget.

On this video, I will look at Rolex, AP and Panerai and discuss what my opinion is regarding their sizes. What looks good for men and women. Even though my opinion is based on many years in the watch industry, please keep in mind that, at the end, your personal preference when it comes to large and small watches should prevail!

Rolex Sizes

Starting with the Rolex Day-Date or Presidential, you have the traditional 36 mm, the larger and more modern 41 mm, and the newer Day-Date 40 with a diameter of 40 mm.

You might say, these watch dial sizes only vary in millimeters, but when it comes to the size of watches, 1 mm can make a BIG difference!

My advice when it comes to the size of these watches is that, unless you're a guy with a very small wrist, avoid the older, more traditional 36-mm and opt for the larger 41 millimeter. If you're still undecided between the two, go for the 40 millimeter. The 41-mm Day-Date is also more expensive than the 36-mm Presi, so your budget will also play a decisive role in the size equation.

AP Sizes

Even those size does matter, bigger doesn't always mean better when it comes to watches.

One good example is when it comes to the Audemars Piguet brand.

For me, even though I love the 44-mm size from AP, it looks a little big on my wrist. That's because, unlike for Rolex watches, AP watches tend to feel a bit bigger than what the technical specifications state for the watch diameter. As a result, the 42 mm AP looks much better on my wrist than the 44 millimeter model.

Panerai Sizes

I'm not very much into really large watches, like the Panerai Bronzo or the Breitling Bentley, but for the Panerai brand, the opposite of what I described above for AP is true.

The 42-mm Panerai actually looks a bit small on my wrist, whereas the 44 millimeter model looks better. Since one of the great things about Panerai is their larger robust look, I recommend that most guys shy away from the smaller 42-mm. Furthermore, for investment purposes, the 42-mm size Panerai has a terrible resale value. That's definitely a double whammy!

So, ladies and gentlemen, do you like your watches big or small? Let me know what your opinion by leaving your comment in the comment section of this video!

I got a 36mm date just :) it does feel a little small but it's my first Rolex so I'm proud of it

The 36 looks better on your small dainty wrist, it looks classy and elegant. Sometimes less is more. The giant wall clocks on the wrist are gaudy and not necessary

i've tried both AP offshores and Hublot Bigbang unico and im liking the bigbang more. it fits well, natural and overall much interesting to look at. the offshore is simply too big, heavy and a pain to put on, not to mention it cost much more.

i know AP is a better brand and they make better quality watches than hublot. but personally i prefer the bigbang over the offshores in terms of size and anything else.

I have a 36mm Datejust, but I'm thin and my wrists are small, so it works for me.

i too have a 43.5mm Omega PO GMT. i put a NATO strap on it and it looks absolutely killer.

41mm was perfect. I had two in both rose and yellow with diamond hours. I kept the yellow and love to wear it. I'm with you, 41 was just right, why fix it if it's not broken. lol Hublot

I think smaller watches in general gives off a different vibe than bigger watches so that is also something to think about

Hey Eric, awesome video as always. Do you think a Rolex ceramic Submariner is too big for a 6.25 inch wrist?

Great video. Your videos are very helpful for when ever I decide to buy my first watch. I'm 5'8 and 160 and I think the the 36 would be the right size for me. 41 I think would be to bulky. But ur right the 41 in Rolex doesn't look that bad

I can't even wear my older 40mm Rolexes that don't have the super case. My James Cameron gives me wood. But I can't find anything in gold that floats my boat except the Skydweller. But with the steel Skydweller coming out, I don't think the gold ones are a good value. :( good vid!!

In general I prefer smaller ones. Yep bullied about the too big watch. DayDate and DateJust especially is 36mm. DJ 36MM is needed 100%, it's the only Datejust to have. Now when it's under 36, if its for example 34mm, now THAT is too little yeah. But in this day and age 35-36mm is fine as a minimum. 36 is fine and big enough, its petite and classy beautiful.

Imma big guy so I need the bigger watch to look right on my wrist IMO a sub looks like a 36mm datejust. I like the 41 Day-Date more but I think resell wise later down the line in like 10 years the 36 will retain its value because it's a classic. And by the way I hope that was knock off because my jaw dropped when I saw it go under the tire

While other channels seems to be pandering to the lowest price possible crowd, CRM continues to remain creative in this Youtube Watch Channel space.
