Parliament Session LIVE: Government to Introduce Waqf Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha, Say Reports

The Centre is expected to introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2024, in the Indian Parliament today, according to reports. The Bill aims to introduce major changes to the 1995 law, including the appointment of Muslim women on Waqf boards and mandatory land verification before a board can designate it as a Waqf property. The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has criticised the proposed changes and called them "unacceptable", while the INDIA bloc pledged to resist any changes to the Waqf Act.
