Whats really crazy is that, in most states, according to the traffic control plan, the drivers are actually meant to wait till the end to merge. Some do and some dont so the whole thing becomes a mess. I have no idea if it would be smoother if everyone knew how to follow the plan. Heck, i know the actual rules and I still merge as soon as I have an opening after the first sign.

Now imagine this... but it's a semi truck, and people do it to you all day long and for basically everything... not just lane closures.. if people spent less time screwing around and a lot more time paying attention and doing the right thing. Traffic could move a lot better for everyone.

I know this happens all the time! We had a bridge reconstruction for a long time and these people would fly on the shoulder then just get mad and try to merge when they knew miles back it was one lane! Guess what? Speeding and/or being impatient doesn’t change distance.

I'm one of the guys that puts those signs out. It's very frustrating when people act like they don't know what they mean. We literally risk our lives on highways to put these out to give drivers plenty of warning before that lane ends, and 98% don't pay any attention to them.

I’ve spoken to police about this and in California at the very least you HAVE to let the person over if the lane is a merge lane. You cause an accident in this situation as the person in the non merge lane you will be ticketed. You don’t have an option. If the person merging is in a regular lane and they merge and cause an accident they can be charged with an “unsafe lane change” and given a ticket. It does not matter if your turn signal was on while you were merging in said non merge lane. As the cop said “a signal in that situation is not an entitlement to get over you want to get over get to the back of the line and get over early.

As much as I don't want to let those entitled trap trucks in they are using their turn signal which is everything for me. They are always blocking the left lane in the winter on the way to ski resorts.

Had a guy from NY get in a turning lane behind me. He gets out of the lane and tried to jump in front of me. Then gets an attitude because I wouldn't let him get in front of me 😂
