First time bee keepers!! We installed the bees into the hives a few days ago and today we are checking to see if they stayed, if the queen is alive, and if they are building combs. All these are signs they will take to the hive and stay!

Always wanted to try this! I think about it almost every time I see bees around the garden. I always wonder to myself... I see them now, but where to they all go??? I love this stuff, so fascinating how we can utilize them for food while still benefiting the plants and trees we also use for food. Such a cool relationship with nature. Thanks for sharing your first-hand experience, Flannel's!

Congrats! I would love to have hives here in VT. However, I would need to register them with the State, which would allow the State unlimited access to my property for "inspection"... Not gonna happen, unfortunately.
Thank you.

well done. I'm glad you're feeding them, that's really going to help them draw out the comb. You can also wax the frames which will help them draw them out faster. If you get it off amazon you need to be careful where you get it from, if I remember correctly the David Burns channel (I've learned so much about bees from is channel) has a link to a safe brand. if not the guy you got the bees from might know a good place to get some or have some himself possibly left over from honey extracting.
