Taiwan is easing its indoor mask mandate starting Feb. 20. Starting that date, masks will only be compulsory at hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and long-term care centers, as well as on public transport. At all other places, masks will be optional.

The CECC still recommends people stay masked in four situations, for instance, if experiencing a fever or respiratory issues. Older adults and people with weakened immune systems are also advised to keep wearing masks when heading out. Masks are also recommended in crowded areas where social distancing isn’t possible, and when meeting older adults and people with weakened immunity.
