I've uploaded 450+ videos to YouTube using iMovie over 3.5 years, it's just about time for an upgrade!

Really helpful video, thank you, I’ve been using iMovie for 2 years and I’m ready to take my YouTube channel and editing to the next level, so will be definitely upgrading to Final Cut Pro. Thanks again.

OMFG!!! that imovie exporting in 4K tip by making sure your first clip is 4K is like gold. Thank you.

The first tip is awesome. Never realise that imovie can do 4k as well.

I remember when I first got a Mac, I felt iMovie was too difficult and preferred to use the iPad version, when I learnt it, I felt the iPad version was limited, and when I got FCP, I struggled at the beginning and usually went to iMovie, but when I learnt it, I felt iMovie was limited, and now I realize the iPad and iPhone app is too basic 😅

Great video. I've been using imovie for my channel for over a year. After watching your pros and cons I'm convinced to stay with imovie for the time being. I've discovered several work arounds that you mention as limitation, (adding multiple screen effects to one clip) e.g. blue screen and picture in picture. Also found you can make multiple changes in an audio track. Hover over the audio line and press the option key it will but a marker add several and the audio can be moved between the markers. Great content thank you, subscribed.

Thank You for such a clear understandable description of both iMovie and Final Cut Pro. Even though I have used iMovie for years your taught me things I did not know. I plan to get a new Mac and needed to decide if I needed or wanted to add Final Cut and your have the first review that really helped me get the difference. Great job-

Super useful!! Thanks a lot8 I've been using iMovie for 3 months now and I was already familiar with editing so it was even easier for me. But I'm definitely gonna switch to FCP and your video really helped, I think I'm ready to use it. Especially considering the fact that they have a free trial of 90 days.

You can fix the layer problem on I Movie by first getting on with 2 screens downloading it into one and placeing it on 2 more

Great video, exactly what I needed to know! BTW, kudos to you for advising people about the learning curve - just because the software can do it, that doesn't mean YOU can!

Nice concise video. I’ve been using iMovie for years, and about hit the limit. Been playing with free trail of FCPX. Steep learning curve. For my needs I find iMovie works best for me as I only have a small YouTube channel. But I like the tools of final cut.

Thank you for your great tutorial. iMovie is outstanding…especially for free with Mac. If anyone needs more video layers, they could export the edited clip out then back in to IMovie & continue adding another layer & build a composite when needed.

you actually can keyframe in iMovie, though not to the same extent as in fcpx

*Thank you for the helpful video. I'm just getting started and using iMovie, but I'll definitely eventually upgrade to FCP when I learn more and get more traction. Thanks again!*
