Have your gas appliances had their winter check-up?

It’s time to get your appliances serviced. Gas appliances require regular servicing by a licensed gas fitter or manufacturer’s technician to ensure they are operating efficiently and safely. A faulty or poorly maintained gas appliance can not only cost you money, it could pose a safety hazard by emitting dangerous carbon monoxide.

Be aware of carbon monoxide.

Faulty or poorly maintained gas appliances can emit dangerous carbon monoxide.
Unlike natural gas, it’s odourless. If carbon monoxide is present, you might experience tiredness, dizziness, vomiting and loss of consciousness. If you suspect someone is suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning, please visit a doctor or hospital immediately.

Three simple steps to keep you and your family safe:

FOLLOW the manufacturer’s recommended servicing periods. For newer appliances it is usually every one to two years. If your gas appliance is more than ten years old it should be serviced annually.

DON'T use any gas appliance, other than a heater, to warm your house. Using a stove or oven to heat your home can be extremely dangerous.

KEEP barbecues and patio heaters outside in a well-ventilated area.
