She's absolutely right. Many years ago I entered an art show at the last minute. I didn't have enough art work to meet the minimum entries. The night before the show I literally threw together a pen and ink still life. I was not happy with it at all but needed it. That picture got third place! I couldn't believe it! Never give up, never stop learning and never belittle your work.

So true. I keep going from "Wow, I'm so proud of this" to "This is not worth the paper it is drawn on" and back to being proud of the next project. Thank you. I know I'm not alone. 🙏

I am not good enough, but my passion for art keep me going.

Best piece of advice from watching your videos was that there's an ugly faze for each art work and to keep going.

This is so true. A lot of my friends, church acquaintances, and family love my drawings. Some say they could never draw like I can and it’s a God given talent. They don’t know I’ve been drawing since I was 4. Great video, thanks for sharing !

I grew up in a family of artists and my parents taught painting, As a teen I had little money so I would copy album covers on poster board because I could not afford to buy posters.I was NOT a good artist at that time...lol. I recall doing a pink floyd the wall poster all my friends thought was a store bought item...I saw all the flaws in it and even today recall the sloppy caligraphy used for words etc but seeing their excitement and wanting to know where to buy it was a lesson I have not forgotten.

i feel that so deeply however my parrents wouldnt let me do art as a career so I didnt draw or paint for over 40 years. I am find absolute JOY when I am arting so regardless of how good I am I will not put it away again. My struggle is crossing in to the realm of others calling me an artist or someone wanting to buy my work. Thank Lisa for cheering us all on.

I've been sitting here for THREE days stuck on a drawing because I just can't seem to make a decision! I need to just trust myself & move forward. Whether it turns out good or bad, I'm still going to learn from it. Thank you for this! 🙏💕

Lisa...do you know why you resonate to most of us like this because you are authentic and so in tune with your inner voice.dont lose that. God bless you 🙏

I have a bad habit of not wanting to “waste” the good paper/pastels/supplies so I never actually produce something I can call finished.

I relate to this 100%! There are so many pieces of mine that I've said "eh, it's ok I guess", only to then have people absolutely love it.

I think, sometimes when artists just pop up, they are new, but they're producing stuff every day and so they progress fast. While others, like me, don't create stuff every day but maybe once a month or something, and therefore progress slower. I had a co-worker. She started painting just a few years ago. And her first artworks weren't that good, but we cheered her on anyway and she had fun. Now she's selling paintings and paints on a daily basis, and they're much better.

I have a box for pieces that didn't work. Every now and then I go through it, sometimes I get one out as I've figured out how to fix it, others give me ideas for new pieces x

there have been a bunch of times that i started on a painting thinking im gonna fail this one, i don't know the techniques well enough to pull this off halfway through the painting those thoughts get worse and then somewhere between like 75%-100% done something ALWAYS happens that makes me think i messed up big time, then ill wait like a week leaving it letting my head rest, and then suddenly something pops up to fix the problem or it doesnt, if i get it fixed the way i want it i keep it, if nothing pops up. i just paint over it most of the time. but with every painting i do even tho not always succeeding in how i planned it out. i do notice that im getting better at certains things and now that i've been painting things for over a year im getting more confident and if theres is a "mistake" i just think back at what bob ross always said, there are no mistakes, only happy accidents
