With offices in Zürich, Barcelona, and Majorca, the work of Gus Wüstemann Architects is a constant evolution between matter and context. From the strong heritage of timber and concrete construction in Switzerland to the blurry boundaries of inside and outside found in Mediterranean architecture, Gus' work always put an emphasis on the core values of local construction and craftsmanship, mixed with the cross-learnings of working across different regions.

Excellent interview, and really like his teams work. As an englishman living in Spain for 20 years, I understand the mentality here, especially as where I am now in Andalusia, is much different to that of the coastal towns where I lived before. I think the most interesting thing is Spain is also still connected to the architecture of the Art Nouveau period. Still to be found even in the small towns, where wealthy landowners had their homes built in that style. When that is part of your history, I am not surprised at all at them not understanding 'raw' concrete buildings.

His work is phenomenal. I wish he was in the US. So hard to find unconventional architects that take pride in their work AND don't try to rip off their clients.
