Step off a box of an appropriate height. Upon landing, attempt to spend minimal time on the ground before jumping as far as possible. Do not increase ground contact time in an effort to jump further. Ensure that the athlete absorbs the force of the landing by bending the ankles, knees and hips, much like a squatting pattern.
