How to Increase Water Pressure to Refrigerator From Your RO System

Quick video of how to increase water pressure to your fridge. I had low pressure from the RO tanks causing the refrigerator to not make ice. Water pressure from the dispenser on the refrigerator was very weak as well. This pump solved both issues. FYI; do not use the cheap clear water lines you can buy from the big box stores. Use a higher quality tubing posted below.

Thanks mate, we are on borehole with direct pump so the bore pump only turns on when you open a faucet/tap so the ice maker wont work. Lifesaver! cheers

I added one of these my entire water line hammered. I had to add another tank on the output side of the pump to dampen pulsing. I first mounted the pump to a 2x4 that was bolted to the wall entire wall vibrated made too much noise. I had to just lose mount it on a shelf.

This is a great video man thank you. Finally upgraded our refrigerator and can’t figure out how to get the RO system to make ice through the fridge line/ice maker. Hoping I can crack into the issue and this video should help.

Samsung should include this pump with all their new fridges!

Share a video of the before and after, my refrigerator takes like a 20 seconds to fill a glass of water. Without RO its like 5-7 seconds.

I had the same problem but I changed the 1/4 inch hose to 3/8 and I didn't have a problem since.

Can you give a list of all items used and where they came from?

Does the pump need 2 of the reducer elbows? Inlet and outlet?

I thought you'd show what the final outcome was on the fridge and being able to look at the water stream coming from the fridge's water dispenser to kinda have an idea how it looks once everything is set.

Thanks. Why did you need a pressure reducer to 40psi? Did you have some issues without it? Booster demand pump from RO output should have an adjustment knob that can set it to your preference. Even without it, pressure switch that came with the demand pump will take care of it.

This pump automatically turns on and off when it need or doesn't need water flow?

Saved me lots of research time! Thank you! Which pieces did you use to add the pressure gauge? (the "T" component it's attached to)

can you link the TDS meters you have? the blue and white things attached to your basement lines. Also, Should this be plugged into a GFCI outlet? Thank you!!!!

Same problem here. How have fridge mfrs not figured this out yet? To be fair my ice maker works sometimes and kicks butt. But then sometimes it makes no ice for a long time. I imagine ice blockages in the feed line that could be overcome with normal pressure but not at the reduced pressures of my RO outlet.

in other videos the pump has hammer noise and they had to install another tank after the pump. did you get this problem?

Thanks so much for this! 2 questions if you don't mind. I got the same pump you recommended except I opted for the .7 gpm instead of the .6 gpm you listed, only because it was like $50 cheaper. That shouldn't be an issue would it? Also, did the pump effect taste at all?

So then you don’t need the duel tanks? What impact would not having the second tank have on the setup?
