Speaking in Tongues - Real or 🧢?

Some Protestant Pentecostal Christians are part of the charismatic movement, which started in the 1900s. It emphasizes speaking in tongues, healing, and drinking out demons, like the apostles and what they did in the Bible. Many Catholics and Orthodox Christians are hesitant of this.

Real. I’ve experienced it and it’s 100% the presence of God.
Correct, some churches are wrong but speaking in tongues and filled with the holy spirit is real.

Absolute cap and a mass hysteria, the biblical speaking in tongues meant actually speaking in an understandable language in order to preach the Gospel. Another Protestant craziness.

yeah i’m a protestant, and i’m really concerned when people say stuff like this, or when i see stuff like this online. Do i doubt the holy spirit? no. (in fact one of my mentors growing up, she would often speak in tongues and i would be scared 😂) but majority of people are probably doing it cuz they are emotionally tricked, either by themselves or others.

Cap complete cap, it's made clear In the bible that the holy spirit allowed them to speak in tongues but it's different languages that can be understood this isn't imo it might be real but I completely doubt it,

Growing up I was raised Charismatic Catholic, it actually kinda helped me in my faith bc I did feel many things, but as I was growing more and more into my faith, I started hearing more abt it and how it actually originated from Pentecostalism, that was the moment of truth for me. By God’s grace I decided to leave the Catholic Charismatic movement🙏🏽

Speaking in tongues is when one speaks perfectly in a language they know not, and often directed to specific groups of said language. Like Peter and the other Apostles in the Acts of the Apostles.

As a Chatolic I understand praying in tonges is praying and preaching in language you yourself do not know but others do e.c. dutch, finish, japanese etc.
This all look like either demonic or as if they smoked a lot of weed

I’m Pentecostal, thank you for answering this video so respectfully.
Yes it’s true we speak in tongues, and yes it’s true people can be very selfish and fake the Holy Spirit. Just ask the lord for wisdom and he will freely give it.

As a Lutheran, can we come back to Catholicism? These new Protestants scare me

I was once like you but later i experienced it. It is so real. I felt the presence of the holy spirit. I did'nt get the gift of speaking in tongues but i was electrifying my whole body, it started from my belly. I felt Jesus's love that i cried out so much ❤ i felt peace and joy and i was not worrying about my problems anymore even though they were still there

Psychologically speaking, they're probably experiencing a Placebo effect. They think it will happen; they think it did happen, but it's all in their head. I'm new to this subject though so please correct me.

Catholic charismatic has a similiar experience like protestant. But the differences in catholic charismatic if you can't speak in tounge it's okay. because the gift can be difference. No pressure if you did not get it. Because the gift is not always that. so if you feel nothing it can be other gift than speak in tounge.

And in catholic charismatic, the movement of Holy Spirit gifts are not to replace the sacraments Baptism & chrism. because we receive Holy Spirit through Sacrament Baptism.
sorry for bad english

Unless you really know what you're doing(rooted in tradition), acting like this would be playing Russian roulette.

Idk about the video but spiritual gifts are real. And casting out demons is very much real.

The Way International does this. They are headquartered in OH. It was very culty. We didn’t realize it was a cult until we attended a class. They broke us up into groups and made us do this and wouldn’t let us go until we did 😅 needless to say, we never went back.

If a Church does not have Sacraments, Rosaries, a Priesthood, or Apostolic Doctrine, flee from it like its the plague.

An example of the gift is when St. Anthony preached to the masses in his native tongue, but everyone understood him.
THAT is not it. 😭

I love speaking in tongues because it feels so amazing but also I feel more connected to God through speaking in tongues❤ . Tongues also shows if someone is filled with the Holy Spirit or not.

I know you wont believe me but I have to say the truth. This is real. It’s not mass hysteria or peer pressure. The holy spirit is necessary for salvation. Look in Acts 2:37-41
Receiving the Holy Spirit is what they had to do, the holy spirit is a promise, and it never stopped. Verse 39 says “as many as the Lord our God shall call.” There was no end to the spirit. People stopped. The Holy Spirit being poured out did not stop.
Just because you didn’t feel it, doesn’t mean it’s not true. I have been healed of a heart condition that would cause me to pass out. God healed me and I haven’t passed out or had an episode since. I know 3 people personally who were healed of cancer. They had cancer in one scan, then the next scan they did of the tumor showed the tumor had vanished. Although with one of those people the tumor shrank until it was gone without medication.
Those miracles are not mass hysteria or peer pressure.
I don’t understand how people think this is fake. What reason would all of these people gain from lying about what they have felt and seen.
God doesn’t force people to believe this if they refuse to. If you refuse to believe he will not fill you with it. You have already closed yourself off to the possibility.
I generally like most of your videos and I am not saying this to be rude. I just hope you see things through a different lens.
